Chapter 31

A few more days had passed, and Ari was still out. Kai rarely left her side, the guys having to force him to so he could sleep and eat. Beomgyu had noticed her cuts and bruises were healing fast, minus the deep cut on her side. Her arms were finally uncovered. Every time Kai looked at her arms, he would break, imagining all the torture she had gone through.

It was day 14. Beomgyu had come in to change her bandage on her side. The wound was looking much better, so he carefully removed the stitches. He looked over at a sleeping Kai, his head laying on the side of the bed, holding her hand. Beomgyu smiled. He was happy to have Ari back with them. He was glad that Markoff was out of the picture for good. He stood up and quietly left the room.

Kai's phone buzzed in his pants pocket. He groaned, moving his hand down to his side, keeping his head on the bed. He pulled the phone up to his face and opened one eye. Soobin.

"Hello?"

"Hey, I'm out and about with Taehyun. Thinking of grabbing takeout. You want anything?" Soobin asked.

"Yeah, that sounds good. Thanks. I'll eat whatever you guys bring back."

"Sounds good. Any update?"

"No, she's still asleep. Beomgyu came in and removed her stitches."

"That's good. Well, we will be back in an hour." Soobin hung up.

Kai placed his cell on the bed stand. He leaned back in the chair and stared at Ari. He could see her chest moving, but no sign of any other movement. He leaned forward, taking her hand in his.

"Come on, love. Please wake up soon. You can do this." He placed something in her hand, closing her hand around it. "I'll be right back." He kissed her forehead and left, shutting the door behind him.

Ari's POV

Ari could see, feel, and hear everything that was going on, on the other side. She never thought she would hear his gentle voice again, to feel his touch and see his handsome face. Ari wanted to wake up and kiss him, but something was stopping her.

Kai was breaking inside, she could tell, and so was she. She had stood in front of him, wrapping her arms around him, but of course, he couldn't see or feel anything.

She watched Kai kiss her forehead before leaving her room.  Ari saw that he had put something in her hand, so she walked over. She tried to open her hand but couldn't. She sat down on the windowsill and looked at her herself. Her wounds were healing well, and the bruises were fading. She walked over and pinched her arm. She felt nothing. Why wasn't she waking up? Ari shed a few tears.

"Ari."

She froze and turned her head to her side. "Ayno?"

Her brother smiled at her. "Hey, sis."

Ari smiled at him and went over to him. He offered her his hand, and she took it, transporting to the top of a cliff. Below was a dark hole.

"What are we doing here?" She asked, confused.

Ayno placed his hands on her shoulders. "You need to wake up, Ari. It is not your time."

Ari looked up at him. "How? I don't know how to."

"You can do it. You are the one that is in control." Ayno wiped a tear away from her face. "I miss you so much, Ari, but you aren't supposed to come with me just yet. Our parents, Ho-sung and I, will be waiting for you when it's time. For now, we will keep watching you."

Ari nodded her head. "I love you, Ayno. Until we meet again."

Ayno smiled and then pushed Ari off the cliff and down into the dark abyss. Ari felt her body falling down. She watched Ayno as she kept falling until blackness took over.

***PRESENT***

Ari slowly opened her eyes. The room she was in was dark. She turned her head to look out the window. The moonlight was shining in. Ari sitting half up on the bed, her head resting on a pillow, her lower body covered in a blanket. She moved her toes and fingers. She then remembered that something was in her hand. She could feel a cold chain. She opened her hand. The necklace that Kai gave her when they confessed their love for one another. Ari smiled. Someone groaned beside her. She turned her head and saw him. His head was lying on the side of the bed, his hand near hers. His other half of his body was in a chair.

"Kai?" she whispered out. She smiled, tears running down her face, as she moved her hand over to his and laid it on top. She gave it a squeeze, hoping he would feel it.

Kai felt a hand squeeze his. He opened his eyes and saw a small hand on top of his. He lifted his head, staring at the hand, then lifted his head and saw two beautiful brown eyes staring back at him. "Ari?"

She smiled at him. "Hi Kai."

Kai moved to sit on the side of her bed, taking her face in his hands. He bent down and kissed her. He felt her hands slip up his shoulders and around his neck, pulling him closer.

They broke away, leaning their foreheads together.

"I love you, Ari."

"I love you too, Kai."
