Chapter 12

Some weeks later Marcus wakes up and goes to the kitchen made some cereal and went back to his room. He woke up looked up the sky and said to himself.......
Marcus: mom dad, I am okay and safe now. I found good people who care; we're like a family [smiles and tears a little]. I hope Amelia and the two are okay.

Chris: hey dude?!
Marcus: yeah?
Chris: [opens his door] you're already up? I'm going out for a bit you need anything?
Marcus: no I'm good.
Chris: you know I've never heard you ask for anything before.
Marcus: that's because you both get me everything I need all the time.
Chris: okay [smiles] I'll be back in a minute.

Clare: babe!
Chris: [standing at the main door] yeah!!
Clare: could you get me some snacks. I'm craving some crisps.
Chris: alright!
Clare: thank you!

Marcus remembered his jar and what happened the last time he looked at it and decided to check. When he opened he found a few more.

Marcus: and there are twelve of them now [stands in disbelief and puts his hands on his waist].

Clare: [shouts from her room] Marcus, are you hungry?!
Marcus: no I just ate some minutes ago! Hey Clare..........
Clare: yeah.
Marcus: [walks to her room with the jar] I just noticed these notes in my jar, did you tell Chris about the jar?
Clare: you know I'm no snitch Marcus.
Marcus: how did they get here?
Clare: [smiles] maybe father christmas put them in.
Marcus: [makes a 'really' face]
Clare: oh come on that's funny [laughs] look that joke works on kids your age they get all excited and laugh [laughs].

Marcus: [about to go]
Clare: giving up so easily, come on.
Marcus: [turns and looks at her intently]
Clare: and he's killed the fun, anyway I put them there.
Marcus: [sad tone with teary eyes] why would you do that?
Clare: I'm so sorry Marcus I just wanted to.......
Marcus: [runs to her and hugs her] thank you.
Clare: oh [smiles and hugs him back].

Clare: [squats to his height] I remember you told me your mom got that for your birthday so I figured I'd help out a bit you know. It took you long to notice though, I've been putting for weeks.
[They sat on her bed]

Clare: each week since I started I'd put a note but I've not been able to do it consistently but yeah....
Marcus: I would look at it every day when I was at Kingson's until I started staying with you both, I even completely forget I have it.
Clare: it's a good sign it means you're healing.
Marcus: yeah, like you and Amelia would say; with time.

Clare: [puts her arm around his shoulder and strokes his other arm] come on let's see what Netflix has to offer. [Stands and shouts excitedly] Its movie day!!

Marcus: that's why you asked for crisps [smiles].
Clare: [smiles excitedly] yep! Come on.
