Chapter 19

She completed that week at that hospital and then the next week travelled to São Paulo. She calls Lucas..........

Clare: Santos como voce esta............... Como esta?............. Como vao as coisas?............... Great, great; yep I'm learning [laughs]. I'll be relocating to Sau Paulo............. At AE Hospital I've been chosen to go there.............. [smiles] thank you, thank you Santos. So do you operate there too or I'd have to find someone?................. Oh okay great I'll see you in two days then. Bye.

She begins packing up and remembers the last time she was packing; she sighs. After hours of packing up she sits to watch some movies on the television and sees a marvel movie. She remembers the last time she watched a marvel movie was with Marcus and looks at the portrait he left, tears up, turns off the television and goes to bed.
The next day she spends most of it in bed and on the couch. She receives a call........

Clare: [with a low tone] heyyyy
Abby: yoo hey girl!!! Wait let me add Trish........... okay.
Trish: oh my God how are you guys I've missed us so much!!
Clare: hey Trish.
Trish: what's up with you?
Clare: everything feels........... I don't know. I mean I'm doing pretty amazing as it is but I just............ I don't know.

Abby: any hot doctors there?
Trish: Abby! Jesus you know what's being going on
Abby: sometimes it's better to move forward
Trish: just shut up idiot. Where are you though? We haven't talked in a while.
Clare: yeah we haven't. I'm in Brazil
Trish: woooo!!!!!!!! That's my girl right there Brazil that's great
Abby: wow girl!! So how's it?
Clare: it's Brazil y'all it's great. How is it in the states and in the UK? I mean you guys are both in fantastic places.

Abby: the states is........ Well, the same I guess [laughs] the hospital here is everything. There's this one hot doctor here Dr Crafold woooo!!
Trish: still the same Abby.
Abby: the one and only.
Trish: home here is great and I just reunited with Jonathan [laughs in excitement]
Clare: really?? Wow so did he finally ask you out?
Trish: yeah we're together now.
Clare and Abby: awwwwww congratulations!!!

Clare: I remember how you'd talk about him
Abby: yeah pretending like she doesn't like him
Trish: guys please [laughs]
Clare: you sound happy that's great.
Trish: you don't.
Abby: yeah what's up?
Clare: well I was given a sponsorship to AE Hospital as an internal med resident by our hospital boss. I'll be going there tomorrow.
Trish and Abby: [scream out] ahhhhh!!!!!!!

Abby: oh my God Clare congratulations! Finally someone sees how smart you are.
Trish: like the AE?? Girl you're doing it all!! But why do you sound low?
Abby: is it because of Chris?
Clare: no. It's not that, I'm over it completely its just something else.
Trish: what is.......

Abby: by the way how's my Marki?
Trish: he told you not to be calling him that Abby; but yeah how's Marcus doing? Could you put him on the line so we say hi?
Clare: ...........
Abby: sis, are you there?
Trish: yoo Clare??
Clare: I'm here. That's why I'm sad.
Trish: oh no, is he sick?
Clare: no, I ....... I left him in Austria with child services.
Abby: that was the right thing to do.......
Trish: you miss him don't you?

Clare: I do. He asked me to be his mom officially since Chris told him that he would be his dad and I said no. I ummm [voice shakes] I took him the next day and travelled later. He begged me not to leave him and I ......... I mean I was in a bad state of mind. [Sighs] it doesn't even matter how I felt, I'm sure he felt so betrayed.

Abby: he'll get over it with time. What does he expect you to do? Take care of him till he's all grown? That's a whole kid, he'll get to understand soon....

Trish: hmmm Abby, why don't you let the adults handle this, this is serious and not a joke.
Abby: exactly which......
Trish: girl shut up!!
Abby: damn always so mean.

Trish: in that moment you were hurting and it's understandable to lash out and do things without thinking clearly. It's usually after that deed is done when you're settled that you see the damage caused. It's always advisable to avoid making decisions when you're mad; we tend to make wrong ones and though it may be a right one, our minds are not straight and well probably do it wrongly. We are only flesh and blood hence we tend to always lash out. Just go apologize to him.

Abby: that's some wisdom right there our Trisha or should I say the one and only Dr Williams [laughs] yoo she's talked alright.
Clare: thank you guys for the catch up, it was needed.
Trish: I know you'll crash your residency
Abby: its The Dr Brown come on of course she will.

Clare: alright Dr Smith that's enough talk for a night; and don't get herpes or whatever out there with your hot doctors.
Trish: [laughs] yeah tell her please.
Abby: it's me come on. Alright I gotta review some work anyway and prepare for tomorrow.
Clare: bye y'all!!
Trish: bye!! [Line cut.]

After the call Clare felt a lot better and decided to eat something and finish up putting her things together.
The next morning Lucas comes in to take Clare. They pack up the things in the car and leave.

Clare: it's really great you agreed to take me there
Lucas: it's my job Clare. Congratulations again, I believe you must be one hell of a doctor taking her residency just after one month of internship
Clare: I mean........
Lucas: don't sell yourself short Clare, you earned it.
Clare: wow hmmmmm
Lucas: what?
Clare: funny my boss said the same thing.

Lucas: you see. Anyway, you moving also helps me; my sister lives there so I won't have to lodge anymore.
Clare: oh wow that's great. So how long is it, the journey to where we are going?
Lucas: wow [laughs] thought you'd have googled it by now. It will take us a whole day
Clare: what?! [Laughs] you're kidding.
Lucas: no check
Clare: [checks on her phone] oh my. twenty-seven whole hours?!! Are you kidding me?!!
Lucas: [laughs] no. We're just going to take a few hours to the airport and then we go.

Clare: [sigh of relief] I hate long drives
Lucas: [laughs] so that lessens our journey to about three hours or so.
Clare: you're the best Santos, the best.
Lucas: [laughs]

While on the journey they get to know each other better each telling their life stories about family and relationships.
They get to Sao Paulo and she meets his sister Ana Santos. The three of them have a great time together and she begins to feel a lot better; she moves on day by day.

She settled in her beautiful apartment with great lighting, great view in the morning, good air and big in size. It had three bedrooms and was gold, light grey and black themed. She had the house bought; she didn't want to be on rent.

Her pay was three times what she was receiving at her previous workplace. She worked diligently at AE and she did make Dr Wayland proud. She texted Abby and Trish in their group chat about how good things are with pictures of her new place.
