It was a cold regular day. But it's a whole different story on the inside this big supermarket building that is "Grab-N-Go".
I had just finished my 12-hour shift. I'm someone who puts the hard work in, but I want something more ambitious and exciting. But I knew that at the moment, this is where I needed to be, and that my time will come.
On my way out from the locker room I'm suddenly is greeted by my colleague Adam, who throughout the time I've worked here I saw as a brother figure.
"So... excited for the holibobs?" asked Adam.
"I am, thank you", I replied.
Adam was starting to get cheeky now, "And I assume a certain someone will be pleased to see you... you know... dropping the BEATZ!"
"Oh shush", I hushed, chuckling away, "David Beatz is like this famous mega star. Besides, he has over 5 million followers. I doubt he'll notice me. Especially since this will be my first holiday in god knows how long."
"Well you never know", hinted Adam, "If I could meet my idol through another country then I have all my hopes for you."
I brush off what Adam has said, "Pfft! Yeah right! See you tomorrow, part timer."
"Later's workaholic!"
We both waved each other goodbye, as I clocked out.
An hour has passed, and I'm at my house, which is about 15 minutes from my workplace. I delved into the taste of fish fingers, chips and peas, whilst I gazed at myto-do list to make sure everything is in check ready for my holiday away.
Dad walks in sorting the washing and clocks my fixed obsession with the list.
"Why don't you take a break", he persuaded.
"Well I can't when it's my first holiday in 6 years. I need to make sure I have everything perfect."
Dad kept reminded me that, "not everything is perfect."
"I know", I replied, "But I need excitement in my life. And this is finally the time."
"You know, you should be more grateful for what you've got. Not many people have it."
"Yeah, oh how I love the supermarket", I sarcastically stated, "oh how I love spending my days facing up, stacking shelves, and oh how I love having every customer under the sun asking me "can you tell me where this is please?" when most of the time it's literally right in front of them." I let off a big sigh as I continued my dinner and checked the list. Dad just left me to it, not wanting to get involved. A buzz movie then goes off. I notice it and hurriedly pick it up.
"Hello?" she said. It did not look good, "Yeah. No problem. Okay, see you tomorrow." she then put the phone down, knowing that something is not right as she had one more spoonful of my food.
