Later on in that afternoon, I returned home, deflated. My dad then comes in and finds me drained and exhausted.
"I've just heard what happened", he stated.
"There goes our holiday", I responded.
Dad comes over and sits next to me. He can see I'm clearly struggling, but I try and brush it off, "Only if you let it drag on. Have you thought about what you want to do yet?"
I was all over the place, as if an earthquake hit me in the head, "I don't know. It had to happen this week of all weeks. I really don't know what to do."
"I think I may be able to help you with that", dad responded, and he went out of the room, puzzled wondering what's going on.
Two hours later, he came back in with his laptop, and I took it from him. I couldn't believe what I saw right in front of me on the tiny screen.
"Bonjour Lydia", a voice called from the laptop. It was none other than David Beatz himself.
I could not contain my excitement, and I asked dad "How did you manage this?"
He gave off a loving smile, as if to say, "I'm full of surprises".
I then gave her dad the biggest hug ever, enough to make him burst, and he left the room so David could talk to me by himself.
"So your dad tells me you were having troubles at work, and it left you in an uncomfortable situation. Tell me. Why are you struggling with it?"
I took a deep breath, "Well... I do want to see who actually did it, as the sooner it's done the better. But I've been looking forward to this holiday for ages. And seeing your work and getting tickets to your show, it made me even more excited. And I'm a huge fan of your work by the way."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. But there may be a possibility depending on how long the investigation is, that I may not be able to go after all. And I don't want to feel like I'm letting you down."
David interrupted me, "Let me stop you there. First of all you're not letting me down."
"I'm not?"
"No. If anything it shows that you care. Many of my fans don't turn up to my gigs with no explanation. I'm aware I can't contact everyone due to my fanbase, but I just get a vibe that some don't care about wasting money. Whereas you, I get the vibe that you want to work hard until it all pays off."
My face instantly then brightens up, "Thank you so much".
"No worries. And I think you should do the investigation."
"Why?"
"Well your dad also mentioned that it's taken all the excitement out of you. So maybe this will give you a sense of adventure."
This gave me real food for thought.
"Thank you so much David. And fingers crossed I'll see you at the gig."
"Merci. Au revoir."
"A bientot", I replied, and I shut down the laptop. Hearing David's words has given me a new sense of adventure. And then I pick up the phone to make a call.
"Hi Arthur. It's Lydia. When do you want me to start?"
