When Venus woke up the next morning, she was on the couch covered with the blanket that she had covered Angel with just the day before. When had she gotten on the couch?
It wasn't the light coming in from the windows that woke her up or the fact that she was no longer wearing the same clothes as the day before — instead a nice pair of her pajamas. . . But it was the series of hushed voices that woke her from the deep slumber.
Assuming it was Angel and the rest of the crew just getting back from their night of fun, she stealthy got up and found her way to one of the bathrooms with a shower near the lobby.
She used the bathroom, cursing herself for not eating more the day before as her stomach growled almost painfully. She would eat after she showered.
Venus washed her hands before easily discarding her clothes into a pile near the sink, leaving one phone on the counter while the other one was left in her hand.
She turned on the water and let it get warm before stepping underneath. Deciding not to wash her hair, she put it up in some weird, messy, hybrid cross between a bun and ponytail that would work for the time being.
Turning her back to the water, she unlocked her VoxTek phone and opened Sinstagram for the first time in a few days. There were two new messages from the moth overlord.
New in the sense that they had been sitting there for a week and she never bothered to open them.
One was asking if they could talk, while the other was a number — likely his personal number if her intuition was correct. She found it odd, but clicked it and called nonetheless.
It felt like it rang forever as she mulled over what tone she was going to give off if it was Valentino that answered. Was she going to tear into him for how he manhandled Angel? That didn't seem like a wise choice. . .
When the call was picked up, the voice was rough, but oh so familiar. “Who the fuck is this?”
The sound of his voice made Venus want to go on a rampage with the intention of killing him and only him. . . But she played it safe and put on the voice she only used whenever she really wanted something.
The voice always worked. Always. It was almost like an extremely strong spell.
“I'm sad you didn't have my number already, Kjærlighet.” Venus said sweetly, grinning at the cursing and immediate shuffling on the other end.
“About fucking time you call me, Mi cariño.” Valentino purred.
Venus wanted to puke but continued on, humming softly before replying. “I know. . . I've been busy, and I know you have been too. . . I wanted to come apologize in person for my actions during our last call. . . I'll be there soon, Kjærlighet.”“How soon?”
“Soon. . . I'd have a clear schedule if I were you.” Venus purred before ending the call and shutting the phone down.
“Gross.” She muttered, reaching her phone outside the curtain to place the phone on the counter.
She continued the shower in peace, hoping Angel would be grateful for what she was doing if he ever found out. She was hoping nobody would, but it was a risk.
Venus stepped out of the shower and dried off before dressing herself in one of her classic, casual black dresses and her black boots.
Pocketing her phone's once again, she exited the bathroom with the intention of raiding the kitchen, since she hadn't eaten in nearly twenty-four hours, but a voice from across the lobby grabbed her attention.
