It was a shallow day at best with the weather, Shane Watkins was at work and was looking worse for wear. He had not been home for the past couple of days due to the sleepless nights and the Killer Queen striking at any time. He was looking at a picture of him and Danielle pulling faces at the camera – these were the times he was missing, since Danielle's death at the hands of the Killer Queen, Shane had been a wreck.
He was constantly blaming himself as he felt that it was his fault because he had been beaten up by the Killer Queen, and then there was the questioning of his best friend. Shane had not even cried much because of the immense guilt he felt due to what had happened, whenever he broke down, George was there to comfort him all the time.
Shane sighed and lent his head against the palm of his hand as he clicked play on the video, the video was of Shane and Danielle mucking around; "Hey Danielle guess what."
"What?"
"You are on video." Shane said gleefully as Danielle grabbed a pillow and threw it at him playfully; "I hate you; you know that right."
"You don't hate me. You know why?"
Danielle giggles softly; "Why?" Shane reached over and placed the camera on the coffee table, then he looked at Danielle; "Because you love me too much hate me." He replied before playfully biting her as she laughed while fighting him off, but they ended up play fighting with each other.
Shane smiled happily as he watched the video, he and Danielle had always been close to each other since their childhood, as they are the same age, but Shane is older than by two months – Shane was born in February 1959 as Danielle was born in April 1959 – but this did not bother them at all. Shane and Danielle would play fight with each other as children, as their mothers just laughed as they did not know what else to do, they were rough with each other, but they knew their limits.
Now here was Shane watching the video of himself and Danielle, he was questioning whether to call an old friend for help, he went to his contacts to find his old friend's number. Just then, Jill walked in and saw Shane sat at his desk; "Have you been here all night, Shane?" she asked as she sat down at her own desk.
"Yeah, I have not been sleeping due to everything and with the Killer Queen now targeting anyone, I just..I just miss Danielle so much. I blame myself." Shane replied. Jill looked at him; "Why blame yourself?"
"Because I questioned her. Then I was beaten up by the Killer Queen, then she is murdered by the Killer Queen, and I miss her every day. She was my best friend, Jill, and the Killer Queen took her away because of a one-night stand. And I must live with that because it is my fault." Shane responded in tears. Jill looked down, she felt for him greatly; "None of this is your fault, Shane. The Killer Queen is responsible for all this pain and heartache, you need to stop blaming yourself because none of this is your fault." She said as he nodded.
He got up and went to the gents to clean himself up, soon he returned to the main space and decided to inform them all about his plan; "I am thinking of calling an old friend for help." Jill nodded. "Who is your friend then, Shane?" asked John to the fair-haired Sergeant.
"Someone who I used to work with nine years ago in 2015. Besides, for me, I need a familiar face and no Ma'am you have not done or said anything wrong, I just need someone else to talk to. I have already sent them a text message and have asked them to meet for a coffee, he can help us with the case, I hope." Shane replied.
They all nodded at him as the song "Good Enough" by Sarah McLachlan plays over as the screen shows them all and then memories of Danielle and Shane.
