Alejandro Becomes A Suspect

Previously on Killer Queen

It was late into the evening when Jill and George received an untraceable email from an unknown source, the email contained a video which they viewed (not realizing that the email would self-destruct after viewing).

Still Jill clicked on the video after George had pulled up his chair to watch the video with her, in the video was their murdered victim Danielle Wolfe arguing with an unknown man - who was of Spanish origin and had jet black hair and brown eyes, he was six foot one inch tall (which was evident as he was the same height as Danielle) - the video had no sound so they could only try and lip read the conversation.

One problem! They were not speaking English. Which the two do not realize, however, they tried to piece together the conversation but were not close. Only after the video ends, the email self-destructs leaving them wheeling away for cover, they were shocked and believed that the Killer Queen had sent them the video.

"What do we know from the video?" Asked Jill as they cleaned up the mess, George pondered for a moment; "Well we do know that the video was filmed two days before Danielle's murder as evident from the time stamp, which means whoever this man is, was one of the three people to see Danielle alive."

"Yeah, but who is he?"

"No idea, I bet Barbara might know or Helen."

"Agreed. Shall we see them?"

"Tomorrow morning as it's late, and they might be asleep." George reasoned to his partner as she agreed with him. They went home and woke up the following morning, and after breakfast they went to see Barbara and Helen.

Helen answered the door and let them in, they walked in as Barbara arrived downstairs to greet them; "What do we owe this visit?" She asked while folding her arms across her chest, she was not in the mood as it was Tommy's birthday and she was not in the mood to celebrate it, even with her son Winston by her side.

George cleared his throat before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a picture, he pondered whether to show it or not but still he did so. "Do either of you recognize this man?" He said as Barbara's face fell into shock, she recognized this man and responded accordingly as she had not seen him for years. "I know him. His name is Alejandro Maurietta, he was a professor at the university where I attended my police course. He disappeared just after I found out that I had passed my Sergeant exams, he is a brilliant man, he helped me a lot with my career and my exams. Why do you want to know?"

Jill slipped her hands into her pockets and licked her lips; "We were sent a self-destruct email from the Killer Queen; it was a video of Danielle and Alejandro in - what we believe - was an argument two days before she was murdered by the Killer Queen. We just need to talk to him, get his version of events and then we know what happened, because he is one of three people that last saw Danielle alive." Explained Jill to them, but Barbara was having none of it as she did not believe that Alejandro was responsible for the death of Danielle, still she told them where the university was with a little persuading from Helen.

The two left as Barbara stormed off upstairs, Helen closed the smile and returned to the kitchen, George drove himself and Jill to the university. After a forty-five-minute drive, George pulled up and parked his car in the car park, then they walked inside the university.

"Can I help you?" Asked the receptionist as they walked over to her, both presented their badges; "I'm Detective Inspector Raymond and this is my partner DCI Gently, we would like to see Professor Maurietta if he is available."

"Professor Maurietta is in a lecture right now but you can feel free to wait for him."

"Thank you." George replied as they went and sat down, a few minutes later the lecture ended and the two went to his office and knocked on the door; "Professor Maurietta we believe?" George said as the professor looked up at them from his desk, his deep brown eyes gave them the chills, and something did not seem to sit right with them about his domineer.
