Tanjiro was walking alongside the stream that flew near the Wind Hashira's mansion. He had crimson red hair and a mark across his forehead. The charming boy was canonically referred to as 'mommy' by his subordinates for his motherly nature. They were currently in training with the Wind Hashira, Shinazugawa Sanemi.

Tanjiro still resented him for harming Nezuko on their initial meeting, although he decided to let it go. Zenitsu and Inosuke were occupied at the moment, so Tanjiro stood there alone across the stream. The boy embraced the soothing effect of the rippling stream, which allowed him to relax from the harsh training he endured.

The Insect Pillar, Kocho-sama didn't participate in any of the Hashira training, which greatly puzzled Tanjiro. She was the only Hashira who refrained from doing so, and remained in solitude. He was aware that her gentle and cheerful persona was a facade, but he didn't anticipate that she would disconnect from the training entirely.

He had heard from Inosuke, who was rather close to Kocho-sama that the reason for her absence may be related to her deceased sister, Kocho Kanae. Before Tanjiro could ask more, Inosuke ran off behind Aoi for mealtime. So this left Tanjiro to question someone else about the incident.

He heard that her passing was nearly four years prior, and the only hashira at that time were Himejima-san, Giyuu-san, Uzui-san and Shinazugawa-san. He had attempted to question Giyuu regarding the matter, but was met with a sad frown and no further response.

From the corner of his eye, Tanjiro caught sight of Sanemi who was sat in a daze on the Engawa facing the stream. He walked closer to observe an unusual sight, the hot headed Wind Pillar sat calmly, with a soft smile on his face. "Shinazugawa-san!" Tanjiro cheerily called out, disrupting the Hashira's solitude.

He didn't hold his usual wrathful expression, but looked rather at peace looking at a butterfly which stood on his index finger. Although this changed drastically when Sanemi heard Tanjiro's voice. Greatly annoyed by the interruption he scowled at him.

"Ugh....stupid Kamado..." Sanemi muttered as the butterfly fluttered across the Engawa's ceiling. "Don't think i've accepted you or some bullshit like that!" He frowned as he barked at the optimistic boy. "I only tolerate your presence...." Sanemi looked above at the pink toned butterfly that was sailing in the wind above them.

Tanjiro had stopped by to inquire about former Flower Hashira that had been on his mind. He didn't wish to be nosy, but couldn't help his curiosity. He was aware that Shinobu-san's facade was all inter related to the fated Hashira's death. He wondered if he could bring any comfort in his attempt to learn more.

"You like butterflies?" Tanjiro said as he looked at Sanemi's gaze upon the insect. The slightest blush went across Sanemi's scarred face which Tanjiro most likely failed to notice. "Yeah..." Sanemi said looking down to his hands, the hands the 'butterfly' once held.

"Only because they aren't annoying like your idiotic ass!" Sanemi scowled greatly annoyed, wishing to be left alone once more. This kid's stupidly kind personality and cheerful persona greatly reminded him of someone else...

"Shinazugawa-san, you're well acquainted with Shinobu-san right?" Tanjiro beamed at him, crossing his legs together. "I suppose.." Sanemi replied, he did exchange pleasantries with Shinobu and inquired about her well-being, after all she was 'her' sister.

"Do you perhaps know anything about her late sister, Kocho Kanae?" Tanjiro asked him the question as he knew Sanemi used to be a Hashira when Kanae was alive. "I heard she was the Flower Hashira, and Shinobu-san was her tsugoku." Tanjiro added and continued to speak failing to notice the expression on his counterparts face.
