Since everyone else was reluctant to step forward, Jeremy decided to take it upon himself to go. He watched the rocks for a little bit, listened to the water trickling down, tried to absorb some of the magic his cousin so firmly believed in. If there even was such a thing, what would he wish for? Truthfully, he had had a crush on Sabrina for a long time. Though he had tried so hard to get it out of his mind. To her, he would never be more than a 'gay best friend'. A part of him wished that he could just be honest, but that would certainly mean the end of their friendship.

He found that Bruce crossed his mind. More than once had Sabrina hooked up with guys like him. What was it about them? Was it their attitude? Their charisma? No, some of the dumbest people he had ever met were exes of Sabrina. So why them? And why not someone as kind and genuine as himself? Jeremy concluded that there was one thing these guys all had in common, shallow as it might be.

He squeezed the nickel in his fist, then gently threw it in the water.
