Work Text:

Niall was walking down the hallway hand in hand with his boyfriend of two years, Zayn Malik. They started dating back in sophomore year and they're now seniors. They've had ups and downs sure but what couple doesn't? The only thing that bothers Niall is that all of his friends don't support his relationship and keep trying to tell him to end it.

There has been times that Niall considered dumping Zayn but in the end he found it too hard to do. They were best friends before anything and he didn't want to lose him over a stupid break up. He'd rather stay with him in a relationship he wasn't really feeling than lose him from his life completely.

But there might of also been the fact that Zayn didn't really let him leave when he tried. He's always forced Niall into staying with him and doing things he doesn't want to do. But Niall's too afraid to leave because he doesn't want to risk anything.

"What ya thinking about love?" He hears Zayn ask from beside him.

"Nothing." Niall shrugged not really wanting to talk about it.

They made their way towards the lunch table where all their friends were sitting waiting for them. Niall plopped himself beside Liam, leaving a space for Zayn as he and Louis went to go get food. Next to Liam was Harry and then it was Josh and then Sarah. Sarah has been Niall's friend since they were little babies.

"Hey you." Liam kneed Niall.

"Hey yourself." Niall said.

"I don't get a hug?" Liam pouted.

"I'll always hug you Lili." Niall laughed and wrapped his arm around Liam's waist, resting his head on his shoulder.

Zayn and Louis came back minutes later and Niall was still cuddling into Liam's shoulder. As soon as Zayn sat down he took Niall's hand in his and pulled him off of Liam. Liam gave a little pout in protest and Harry laughed.

"Geez Z, take it easy." Harry laughed.

"I'm fine." Zayn snarled back.

"Calm down babe, he didn't mean any harm." Niall said trying to calm him.

"Whatever. I'm going for a smoke, Lou you in?" Zayn asked pushing Niall off of him and standing from the table.

Louis looked hesitant about going but couldn't say no, no one could say no to Zayn. So he gave Harry a quick kiss on the cheek and bid everyone goodbye before leaving with Zayn.

"You okay Ni?" Liam asked and Niall just shrugged, tears welling in his eyes.

"Oh Ni, it's okay to be upset. C'mere." Liam mumbled pulling Niall into his lap and let him quietly sniffle.
