Summary: Liam and Niall have been dating for 3 years now. They've been together from before Liam became famous, and now that he's gone all the time, it only gets harder.

Work Text:

When Liam turned over to look at the clock, it read 6:00 am in bright red lights. He groaned and shut his eyes trying to adjust to the light. He slammed his hand on the alarm to shut it off.

Liam was only up at 6 am for one reason and one reason only. He knew that it was 10pm back in LA where Niall was, and he knows that Niall just finished his shift at the local bar he works at. He made himself get up at arse o'clock in the morning just to call Niall because he hasn't spoken to him in a while.

He picks up his phone from the night stand next to his bed. He goes to dial Niall's number, knowing it by heart, and pausing before hitting call.

What is he scared of? It's only Niall, the boy he's happened to be dating for 3 years. But then Liam reminds himself that he hasn't talked to Niall in about a month, hasn't seen him in about over 6 months. He's just been so busy with tour and he just stopped calling Niall to not cause stress on his life.

Liam looked at the name underneath the phone number that said 'Baby❤️' and almost started crying on the spot. How could he just stop talking to Niall? Niall was the best thing that's ever happened Liam, and he was so, so stupid for ignoring him.

Liam presses the call button and brings the phone to his ear, praying that Niall was home from his shift already and would answer. The phone rang about four times before Liam heard a noise through the phone and held his breath.

"Liam?" A voice came through the phone.

"Niall?" Liam asked, still holding his breath.

"Yeah, it's me. What's going on, is everything okay?" Niall asks.

"What, yeah, everything is fine. I just thought I'd call you. Haven't heard your voice in a while." Liam admitted, tears welling up in his eyes.

"It's been a while. I'm okay though, well, I'm coping over here. How's tour?" He asks.

"Oh tour is okay. It's been very tiring and stressful. I miss you a lot Ni." Liam said.

"I miss you too, Liam." Niall says back.

"Good. I mean, I've just been getting this feeling that you don't want to be with me anymore." Liam admits.

"That's crazy Liam!" Niall exclaims. "What put that idea into your head?"

"I don't know. It's just that I've been gone for so long and you're at home by yourself. I just feel like we're drifting away because of this." Liam says sadly.

"Don't worry Liam. I'm yours, yours until the end of time. We've talked about it, okay? I don't want you to stress over this." Niall says.

"Okay that's good. I just didn't want you to think that-"

"I've got to go Liam. Lou's here to help me with something! Love you, bye!" Niall quickly says and hangs up the phone.

Liam pulls the phone away from his ear and looks at the screen blinking at the ended call. The screen goes back to his lock screen of the picture he took of Niall on the beach the day of their 8 month anniversary. He just stared at the screen with tears in his eyes.
