✧✦ PART ONE ✦✧

⤷ TWELVE; the free ⤶

AS A SERENE FEELING BEGAN SINKING INTO ME, the harsh reality had yet to sink in. Almost as if I wasn't leaving the life many wished for behind me. Looking at the night sky to see the beautiful goddess shining down on me, she could almost compare to Nyra's beauty.

Looking back at her in my bed, her eyes swollen from crying. Her body buried in heavy silks. Yet another thing to despise father for; making my other half lose our dearest friend and for Alicent's stolen life.

With a shaky hand, the scroll in my hand suddenly felt heavy. Placing a soft kiss to it as I place it onto my table, next to the others. With both hands on my chair, I bowed my head in sadness. A small sigh leaving me, not one of sadness or annoyance but that of completeness.

Grabbing my rucksack, swinging it over my shoulder before making my way over to Nyra. Slowly regret was beginning to fill my entire being but I could not allow myself to continue this way. Father would never listen no matter how much was proven truthful.

Kissing her head gently as I whispered quietly "Forgive me, my sweet sister." With a final nod, I slip behind my mirror that held a hidden door. Grabbing a lit torch as I made my way to Karnax's resting place.

He was as beautiful as he was large. His size not yet as big as the Queen dragon Vhagar but out of captivity I would never know how large he would get. Whistling a small tune to let him know I was near, he stretched with a large groan like chuff.

"I've missed you my love." Stroking under his chin, smiling happily. With him I was free and truly happy. "We'll go on a grand adventure, one where we never have to part again."

Tying my belongings to his saddle before sitting comfortably on him, clasping his reins tightly. "Sōvēs Karnax." I commanded, grinning when he trotted to the edge to the cliff. The adrenaline skyrocketing as he jumped off with his large wing spread.

His dark figure loomed over Kingslanding, hiding the light of the moon herself. Looking down at the city ignited a spark of sadness in me but with all my affairs in order, nothing and no one could stop me. Though I wonder how life between Nyra and Alicent would be.

Unable to help myself as I lifted my arms into the air, enjoying the rush of breeze that went through my hair. Screaming out in pure happiness as we left the kingdom, before I knew it Karnax let out a piercing roar that matched my own. One full of joy.

Laughing at his excitement as we continued to flip in the air joyfully.
