✦✧ PART TWO ✧✦

⤷ NINETEEN; a union of the great houses⤶

SILENCE.

The day had arrived, the offical first moment of her betrothal ceremony awaited her. There was nothing Rhaenyra could do about it now and yet naught word had come for her. Although she sent nearly a dozen letters, Rhaenyra was left empty handed.

Her heart aching in silence as she stood emotionlessly, the feeling of dread finally sinking into her porcelain skin as she was prepared

With her ladies maids rushing around her, not one could see the frown that was permanently etched onto her face nor did they notice her panicked breathing. As the older women began to tighten her corset, she finally snapped.

"I need a moment. You are all dismissed." She softly spoke to which the women scoffed, their protests causing her to roll her eyes. "Get Out Now!" She spat. Leaving in a huff of annoyance, not wanting the princess to rage at them which could lead them to a harsh flogging.

It was not unusual, after all they knew she would pull some sort of dramatics on such a day. Listening in with disappointed expressions as she broke down on the other side.

"Sister why..." Rhaenyra whispered in High Valyrian closing her eyes as she did so. "Why must you turn silent in a time of need. On a day like this." As she opened her eyes, they grew darker. Before she knew it, the necklace that was on her was ripped off and was flung towards a vase.

Wincing at the loud smash, the maids and guards look at the door before quickly dispersing as they heard foot steps leading towards them. Only to bow at the sovereign who smiled politely.

As a sob is about to leave her, a knock echoes the chamber making her roll her eyes. Chocking back the sob "You may enter."

And so the sovereign did.

Displeasure obvious on her face by the presence of her old friend and now Queen consort who stared at her with a mix of sympathy and regret. Dressed in the finest red gown anyone had ever seen.

Inwardly sighing as she gave a small bow "Your grace." Alicent looked at the mess that Rhaenyra had created before subtly frowning. "Is there something that you need?"

"Today reminds me of my own wedding, of how despite the face we were...are at odds with one another we kept our promises to be there on our wedding nights." Alicent's words left Rhaenyra feeling numb, so numb that she didn't realise that Alicent was loosening the corset.

Looking into the mirror at Alicent, she began speaking "I thought on a day like this she would at least...." Her words trailed off uncertain if she would falter.
