Time seems to be a funny thing.
When you're stuck in a room underground with no contact from any living thing other than roaches or the occasional rat, you tend to have no concept of time.
I think I've been stuck here for a couple days? Or is it just a few hours? I don’t know. I just know that I was hungry, and any type of water I could get was the mucky tasting water dripping down the walls.
My whole body cramped from the consistent position I’ve been in. My arms were handcuffed around a pole that stuck out of the floor and made a 90 degree angle into the wall. I don’t have any leverage to stand up, let alone sit up.
The sound of a click makes my head snap up to the door. I watch as Zankuko walks in, his clean gray suit that he wears seems to be new looking.
“Good to see you, Akai, how are you this fine Thursday?” He asks.
So I’ve been here for four days. Thank goodness for the little bits of water on the walls. I stare at him from my hunched position, my face more blank than ever.
“Now now, no need to look like that. I did save your life the other day, I feel like a thanks should be in order.” He chuckles.
By saving me, he means not killing me. Bastard.
He grabs a metal chair that sat in the corner of the room and drags it in front of me. The sound of the metal legs against the floor seems to bounce off of all the walls. It’s always been echoey in here, there’s practically nothing in here anyways. He takes a seat and looks down at me, his cane tapping onto the floor. His body language seemed to be relaxed. He must have some sort of decent news, or a deal he’s struck. Either way, it involves me.
“So, I have recently got in contact with Giran, and what you said was true,” He starts to explain, “So I have set up a meeting with him later this afternoon, and I would appreciate it if you were to join me.”
A meeting? I never would’ve thought that Zankoku would want me to be a part of a meeting before. Then again, if he wants to keep a decent profile with Giran, he may treat me slightly differently than he usually does. Once again, Bastard.
“Of course, you will have to get cleaned up. There will be a nice dinner at this meet up, so take advantage of it.” The thought of food made my head perk up instantly. I look up to his eyes and nod. I’ll take any chance I can to get access to food.
“Good girlie.” He smiles.
He stands up and grabs a key from his pocket. I sit eagerly as I watch him unlock one of the handcuffs. When he does, I roll my wrists around and rub them, the feeling slowly coming back.
“Try anything, and you’ll be kept here for a whole week.” He demanded, his voice low and threatening.
I slowly stand up and nod, keeping my gaze down. I don’t wanna provoke him, especially while I’m still in this hell hole.
We meet his bodyguards at the door and make our way up the stairs. We are super deep underground. Even when we are on the top floor lobby, it's still over 100 feet underground. When Zankoku built this place, he wanted to make sure it stayed out of ears or quirk’s reach of anybody that could track this place down. Of course, a pro hero would probably be able to find this place if they were purposely looking for it, but it was deep enough so the average citizen wouldn’t be able to track it.
After a few floors of stairs, we are met with an elevator that sits across the other side of the hallway. This level is the lowest the elevator can go. This place has 13 floors, my little hellhole being at the lowest at 300 feet underground. He made that floor special just for me. He says that I should feel grateful for something like that, but he can kiss my ass if he thinks I’m going to thank him for anything.
