Later that day, I got invited to the famous rich kid of the school, Seo Changbin's birthday party. I always had anxiety about attending big social events. Even in the past, I tried to avoid my parents' business gatherings. The thought of mingling with a crowd always made me uneasy.

Initially, I didn't want to go, but Seungmin insisted that I join him. He promised he would stay with me the entire time so I wouldn't have to worry. "Come on, it won't be that bad. I'll be right there with you," he said, his eyes pleading. "Besides, I won't attend without you."

Reluctantly, I agreed. I forced myself to wear the prettiest dress in my closet, a simple yet elegant navy blue dress that I hadn't worn in ages. I was too lazy to go shopping for something new, and this dress seemed perfect for the occasion. Plus recycling a dress that is perfectly fine and only ever worn once is not a bad thing... Right?

As Seungmin and I entered the lively party venue, the atmosphere hit me like a wave

As Seungmin and I entered the lively party venue, the atmosphere hit me like a wave. Music filled the air, and laughter echoed off the walls. The room was adorned with glittering decorations, and the crowd was buzzing with excitement.

Bangchan's eyes widened in surprise when he saw us. "I didn't expect to see you here, Mr. Einstein," he said with astonishment and humor.

Seungmin shrugged casually and gave a warm puppy smile. "I thought I'd make an exception for our Dwaekki's big day," he replied jokingly.

The party atmosphere was electric. The music was loud, and the dance floor was crowded with students letting loose and having fun. Drinks flowed freely, adding to the expensive ambiance of the celebration. The lights were dim, creating an intimate and exciting mood, with colorful beams flashing across the room.

As the night progressed, I couldn't help but notice Seungmin's growing unease. He started with a few casual drinks, but as time went on, he seemed to drink more and more. His usually confident demeanor began to unravel with each sip. I watched as he laughed and chatted with friends, but there was something off about his behavior. His laughter seemed forced, and his eyes, usually so bright and clear, hinted at a deeper unease.

"Hey, are you okay?" I asked, noticing his slurred speech and the way he stumbled slightly.

Seungmin chuckled nervously, trying to brush off my concern. "Yeah, I'm okay. Don't worry about me. Please, enjoy yourself," he said, his words blending together in a drunken slur.

I was clearly worried but didn't want to push him too much in front of everyone. Bangchan and his other friends were around him, keeping an eye on him, so I decided to grab a non-alcoholic drink for myself because I usually don't like drinking alcohol. Plus looking at Seungmin, I felt that I might have to drive him back. I grabbed Sparkling Plum Punch from the bar counter because I really needed something to distract myself from my growing concern for Seungmin.

As the night went on, I mingled with a few friends and tried to enjoy the party, but my mind kept drifting back to Seungmin. Every time I glanced in his direction, I saw him taking another sip, his smile fading a little more each time. His laughter no longer reached his eyes, and he seemed more and more detached from the fun around him.

I excused myself from the group I was having a light chat with and went to Seungmin.

"Hey, Seungmin, let's get some fresh air," I suggested, approaching him and gently taking his arm. He looked at me, his eyes slightly glazed over, but he nodded.

We made our way through the crowd and out the door. The cool night air was a welcome relief from the stuffy, loud party atmosphere inside. I guided him towards the car, hoping the fresh air would help clear his head.

As we reached the car, Seungmin suddenly pinned me against it. I was stunned by his actions, my heart racing as I tried to process what was happening. Before I could react, Seungmin's lips met mine in a surprising kiss. His touch was urgent and filled with emotion, and I found myself responding instinctively, my hands traveled his shoulders to his hair.

When he finally pulled away, his eyes were filled with a mix of desperation and affection. "I... I've been wanting to tell you something," he said, his voice raw and filled with emotion. "I really like you. Since the day I saw you in the hallway of our school laughing with your classmates, I fell for you, Hwang Youngeun."

I stood there, stunned by his confession. My heart was pounding, and I could feel my cheeks burning. "Seungmin, I..." I began, but he cut me off.

"No, let me finish," he said, his voice trembling. "I've tried to hide my feelings because I didn't want to ruin our friendship. But seeing you every day, being so close to you, it's been driving me crazy. I can't keep it inside anymore. I love you, Youngeun."
