A month after the battle of Phrenapates had concluded, peace had returned to Kivotos once again. During this time, Sensei had just finished contributing to the restoration projects across the city. Finding some free time, he decided to journey back to Abydos to check on the students who had been most involved in the conflict.

After entering the room where the Abydos students usually spent their free time, Sensei found it seemingly deserted, except for a single soul resting on a desk, bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun.

That singular soul was none other than Takanashi Hoshino.

" Hoshino..."

Slowly and carefully, Sensei approached the nearest chair in the room to use while he waited, ensuring that his presence didn't accidentally wake up Hoshino. Though Sensei knew her halo was on, indicating she was likely awake, he still hesitated to disturb her rest.

" Oh, It's you, after all, Sensei." wakes up Hoshino, rubbing her eyes before releasing a loud yawn.

" Good to see you, Hoshino. ", greeted Sensei with a smile, " I apologize for disturbing your rest."

" Oh, don't be, fuhe~" she giggled, leaning back on her chair, " Oji-san is actually expecting Sensei's arrival, you see. It's the reason why she stayed back while the others went shopping!"

" So that's why it's only you here..."

" You came to check on Shiroko, right? There's no need to worry, Sensei, she's quite the tough cookie, you know? She's already back to her usual antics like nothing ever happened!"

"If that's the case, then I'm glad," said Sensei, releasing a relieved sigh. "I was honestly afraid of losing a student during that incident... the thought of it happening still gnaws at me from within even now... but I'm glad you guys are doing fine nonetheless."

Saying this, Sensei leaned his body forward with both his hands clenched together; he was trying to hide his emotions, but Hoshino could clearly feel the tension in Sensei's eyes. There was no doubt that Sensei was angered... not directed to anyone but himself.

Seeing how worried and anxious Sensei was only intensified Hoshino's focus on him. Her lips wished to say something to cheer him up, but for some reason, she couldn't find the right words to offer comfort.

" Sensei..." Suddenly, Hoshino called out to him in a weak voice. It was weak, but fortunately audible enough for Sensei to perceive it.

" A-Ah, haha! What the hell am I venting to a student for?" realizing the tension of his words starting to affect Hoshino, Sensei abruptly slapped himself to cease speaking more than he should. " My apologies, Hoshino. Those aren't words a teacher should show to their student."

" ...I was afraid as well, Sensei... losing both you and my cute underclassmen..." As she said this, Hoshino clenched both her fists, grabbing the fabric of her skirt and squeezing it tightly. "I've had people leave me before... and the idea of losing another person I cared for also eats me from the inside..."
