Now

I leap from my seat and stab Austin in the torso, then the other man leaps for me. I stab him in the throat. The wine colored blood pools out and I stare in horror, I did that? I pull the gun from his waistband before I let it get to me and turn to point it at Austin.

Shit, he's holding his side with one hand and a gun to my father's head with the other. His eyes blaze with anger. "You're smarter from the last time we met, good for you. But you should know that if you shoot me I pull the trigger and shoot him." tears well in my eyes as I look over to my father who is falling in and out of consciousness.

"ok..ok" I raise my hands in the air in defeat. "Drop it on the ground" he demands, and I do just that. I take a step back and almost trip over the man's body. I'm a murderer. My heart aches as does my once pure soul.

"What a mess you've made"

"What do you want, Austin?"

"What I want is for you to chose me, and to listen"

"Listen to what?"

He slaps the gun across my father's face and wakes him. "Tell her who killed her mother" the words hit me in the throat, stomach and heart like a shockwave."

he spits and gargles the blood from his mouth and gasps in pain. "I killed her" the hyperventilation begins "why?...WHY!" He looks up at me. "Because she was unfaithful" and there he was again, my father.

How couldn't I have seen it before? He's been the killer all along. Austin begins to chuckle and I glare at his direction to know what's so funny. "And that's where you are wrong, the letters and notes you found were for Evangeline, not for your wife you fool" my father blinks in shock

"no" he stutters as tears fill his eyes "ohhhh yes. You see I sent those letters hoping evangeline would write back, seems you got them first and as the jealous man you are you let that devour you without thinking straight which led you to killing the one person who truly loved you, your loving wife and mother to your daughter"

Tears pour down my fathers face as he screams from the pain in his heart, in some deep dark place in my own heart I felt bad.

Click, the gun shot sounds and my father sits lifeless in his chair. The world slows and my ears ring from the gunshot. The world starts to darken and I fall.
