Lacy woke up the next morning and arrived at the rehearsal space early, wanting to get a head start on the day's scenes. To her surprise, Drew was already there, practicing lines alone. He looked surprisingly serious and focused, a side of him Lacy hadn't seen before.

"Hey," she greeted, dropping her bag on a nearby chair.

Drew glanced up, his usual smirk replaced by a more thoughtful expression. "Morning, early bird."

Lacy couldn't resist a jab. "Didn't think I'd find you here. Figured you'd be sleeping in."

Drew raised an eyebrow. "I could say the same about you. Here to actually put in some work, or just trying to one-up me?"

"Maybe a bit of both," Lacy replied with a shrug, a small smile tugging at her lips. "I do have to carry this scene, after all."

Drew chuckled. "Keep telling yourself that. Ready to rehearse?"

They started with some light scenes, gradually building up to more intense ones. Their chemistry was undeniable, even if it was wrapped in layers of sarcasm and snark. The back and forth banter continued as they worked through their lines.

"Your character is supposed to be charming," Lacy said, rolling her eyes as Drew delivered a particularly flat line. "Try acting like it."

"And your character is supposed to be falling for me," Drew shot back. "Try not looking so disgusted."

Lacy glared at him but took a deep breath and refocused. They repeated the scene, this time with more intensity. Their words flowed seamlessly, and the tension between their characters began to blur with their own.

As they moved into a scene where their characters were supposed to have a near-kiss moment, the atmosphere shifted. They stepped closer, their eyes locked in a fierce gaze. Lacy could feel Drew's breath on her skin, her heart pounding in her chest. The world around them seemed to fade away.

Drew's hand gently cupped Lacy's cheek, his thumb brushing lightly against her skin. "Do you ever stop being so infuriating?" she whispered, her voice trembling slightly, perfectly in character.

"Not when it gets this kind of reaction from you," Drew murmured back, his eyes dark and intense.

Lacy's breath hitched as Drew's face inched closer to hers. She could see the flecks of gold in his eyes, the way his gaze softened just for her. Her heart raced faster, each beat echoing in her ears. Their noses brushed, and she felt the warmth of his lips just a hair's breadth away from hers.

The moment stretched on, suspended in time. Lacy's eyes fluttered closed, anticipation coiling tight in her stomach. Drew's hand slipped around her waist, pulling her closer. She could feel the heat of his body, the strength of his arm around her.

Just as their lips were about to meet, the director's voice rang out. "Alright, let's take five!"

They stepped back quickly, both looking a little flustered. Lacy's cheeks burned, and she glanced away, trying to calm her racing heart.
