"Brady!" Lacy screamed, throwing her full-on self on him as if there were no tomorrow. "What are you doing here?"

"Surprise!" Brady beamed, hugging her back. "Well, I thought I would come see you and check out the set."

"Come in, come in!" Lacy exclaimed, delighted to have him in the room with her. "I can't believe you're here!"

They had just sat in the cozy living room of Lacy's make-shift apartment; the sun's rays flowed in through the windows. It almost felt like the old times again, but somehow, they were still finding some time for themselves amidst the frenzy of her new life.

"So, how's life back home?" Lacy asked, curling up on the couch beside him.

"Same old," responded Brady with a shrug. "School, the gym, trying to stay out of trouble. You know how it is."

"Sounds about right. Missed you, though. It's been mad here." Lacy laughed.

Brady's eyes softened. "I missed you too, Lacy. How's everything going on set?"

Lacy hesitated for a moment. "It's been perfect. The cast is good, and we're finally in a good place with this show. But it's also. intense."

Brady raised an eyebrow. "Intense how?"

"Just...the pressure, the long hours. And Drew," she had to admit, and the blush started creeping up her cheeks.

At the mention of Drew, Brady's face fell just a little. "Ah, Drew. How's that going?"

Lacy blew out heavily and ran her hand through her hair. "It's complicated. At first, we couldn't stand each other. But lately... I don't know, Brady. I think I might have feelings for him." Brady's heart just dropped. He'd known Lacy for years, and he'd liked her a little bit, all those years, too. To hear her talk about Drew in that way was a low blow. He had to show no feelings, so he put on a neutral face.

"Do you suppose he thinks you're into him too?" Brady attempted a casual nature about it.

Lacy nodded slowly. "Yeah, I think so. We've had some moments, you know? It's just really confusing because one minute he's teasing me, but the next, he is pretty sweet."

Brady almost clenched his jaws to keep the inside emotions from getting out. "Are you sure about this, Lacy? I mean, Drew. he just doesn't look like the one to get serious about relationships."

Lacy frowned. There was some tension in Brady's voice. "What do you mean?"

"I just don't want to see you get hurt, Lacy," he said, his voice softening. "You're my best friend, Lacy. I care about you." Nervously smiling, she took his hand and squeezed it. "I know, Brady. I appreciate that, but I have to figure this out on my own. I can't help it—I'm just feeling this way." Brady smiled, although his heart was heavy.

"Just be careful, okay? Promise me that." "Promise," Lacy promised, staring into his eyes. "And thanks for looking out for me, Brady. You're the best."
