As Drew's car sped down the road, Lacy felt a surge of defiance and determination. "Just keep driving, Drew," she said, her voice steady.
They drove for hours, the tension between them growing with every mile. Finally, as the sun began to set, Lacy pointed to a familiar house on the outskirts of town. "There," she said. "Stop here."
Drew pulled over and turned off the engine, glancing nervously at the house. "Is it safe here?" he asked, his voice filled with suspicion.
Lacy hesitated, then took a deep breath. "It's Brady's house."
Drew's expression darkened. "Brady's house? Are you fucking serious, Lacy?"
"There's no other place that's safe from the media and everybody else," Lacy explained, her voice pleading. "We need a place to stay, Drew. This is the best option."
Drew clenched his jaw, staring at the house. "I don't like this, Lacy. Not one bit."
"I know, but we don't have any other choice," she said softly. "Please, Drew. Trust me."
After a long, tense moment, Drew sighed and nodded reluctantly. "Fine. But I'm not happy about it."
They got out of the car and walked up to the front door. Lacy knocked, her heart pounding in her chest. Within moments, the door opened, and Brady stood there, his expression a mix of relief and concern.
"Lacy," he said, pulling her into a tight hug. "I'm so glad you're okay."
"Thanks, Brady," she replied, pulling back. "We need a place to stay. Can we crash here for a bit?"
Brady glanced at Drew, his expression hardening slightly, but he nodded. "Of course. Come in."
Drew and Lacy settled into the guest room at Brady's house, their movements tense and silent. As they began unpacking, the weight of unspoken words hung heavily between them. Lacy could feel Drew's frustration simmering beneath the surface, and she knew it was only a matter of time before it boiled over.
"So, we're staying at Brady's place," Drew said, his tone dripping with sarcasm as he tossed his bag onto the bed. "Just what I wanted."
Lacy sighed, trying to keep her voice calm. "Drew, we didn't have many options. Brady's house is safe from the media and everyone else."
"But you didn't even consider how I'd feel about this," Drew snapped, his eyes narrowing. "You just decided for both of us."
Lacy frowned, feeling a surge of frustration. "I thought it was the best choice. I'm sorry if it upset you, but we needed somewhere to stay."
Drew scoffed, crossing his arms. "It's always about what you think is best, isn't it? You never think about how it might affect me."
"That's not fair, Drew," Lacy said, her voice rising. "I'm trying to keep us safe. You're the one who's making this difficult."
