"Hey, Lacy," Madeline said as they sat down for hair and makeup on set for the rest of the day.
"Oh, hey, Madeline," Lacy replied, smiling and giving her a tight hug.
"You look different," Madeline observed, narrowing her eyes with curiosity.
"No, I don't," Lacy said, unable to resist a smile.
"Yes, you do. There's this glow about you that I can't quite put my finger on—OH MY GOSH, YOU GOT SOME LAST NIGHT" Madeline exclaimed.
"What? No, what are you talking about?" Lacy said, her face turning red.
"OH, IS IT BRADY? IT'S BRADY, ISN'T IT?" Madeline insisted, her excitement growing.
"No, it's not Brady," Lacy replied, shaking her head.
"Okay then, who? TELL ME, I NEED TO KNOW!" Madeline demanded, leaning in eagerly.
"Okay, but promise you won't tell anyone because we haven't made things official yet, and I'm not even sure what we are yet," Lacy said, lowering her voice.
"YES, YES, I PROMISE!" Madeline said, her eyes wide with anticipation.
Lacy took a deep breath and giggled. "Fine, it's Drew."
"DREW? NO WAY! I THOUGHT YOU GUYS HATED EACH OTHER!" Madeline practically shouted.
"Shhh! Yes, we did, but he's not so bad after all," Lacy said, blushing. "Under all that arrogance and annoyingness, there's a really nice guy and I'm starting to get to know that guy."
"That's good, that's really good," Madeline said.
"Yeah," Lacy replied, looking away and smiling as she thought of Drew.
"Okay, not to be a buzzkill, but isn't there a huge age gap? Isn't Drew like 30 and you're 21? That's nine years, Lacy," Madeline said after a moment of thought.
"So what? Drew likes me because I'm mature for my age. Besides, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have a ten-year age gap, and they seem happily married," Lacy retorted.
"Yeah, but that's not the same situation. Priyanka is the older one in their relationship. Here, it's Drew. Older men can get... arrogant sometimes," Madeline pointed out.
"Listen, Madeline, I get your concern, but I promise you Drew is not like that. He's sweet, kind, caring, and I like him a lot," Lacy said firmly.
"Yeah, just be careful, Lace. We don't want a Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift scenario all over again," Madeline warned.
"I'll be careful, Mads," Lacy said, chuckling. Deep down, she knew that her relationship with Drew was going to create a huge controversy in the media. She didn't even want to begin to think about what her parents would say, especially her dad, who had always been picky about the guys she dated.
