He cradles you in his arms. The first thing you see is the fire.
You are burning with it. Your body hums with it.
It envelopes you both. Only his magic stops it from consuming you.
He is saying something you can't hear.
All you can say is his name. It comes out broken.
Like a piece is missing, not just from his name but from everything within you.
Something you needed to know but won't ever be told.
Out of the corner of your eyes, you see Clint and Natasha. And your heart bleeds all over again.
"It's fine. I've got you. I've got them. It's fine. You'll be fine." So that's what he's been mumbling.
You're bleeding. A lot. That much you know.
If he heals you, he would have little to nothing left. He explained it to you once.
The gift of healing is not for all.
You know he would do it anyway.
I won't die. Not tonight. You smile at him. Maybe it isn't as pretty as your smiles usually are because he is crying. Hard. "No." You whisper to him as you try to get the tears out of his perfect face.
Your fingers leave imprins of blood instead.
His green magic is flowing in waves. Like a vine.
Like always, his magic heals more than he intended.
Both for you and your adoptive mother.
You had never called her that. Frankly, she wasn't old enough to have a kid your age.
You hear them cough. And their voices reach you as if through a door.
The room of people who mean more to you than your life fades away as the world blurs in, and only darkness remains.
《•》
Is she the one? A serpent like voice whispers.
The world comes back to you all wrong. A black sun darkens the skies, and every sweep of wind makes you choke. Even the open space makes you feel claustrophobic.
What is this place?
"Loki?" You call out. No sound comes. Not even from your own throat.
The Asgardian boy? A dark voice promising death chuckles from your left.
You turn towards it with a start. Only darkness greats you.
We enjoyed breaking him. Another voice that rakes phantom nails down your back joins.
Nothing but darkness still. What was happening.
"Stop it." You spat at them.
A worthless runt, he was. A chill runs down your spine as someone whispers in your ear.
You turn around in an instant. Ready for whoever it is, but the burnt face is so brutal and haunting you can't stop your scream, just seeing it scares you enough into shock.
Frost giant pretender. A hand on your shoulder makes you fall with a scream. You drag yourself back from those hediously sharp teeth. As one lunges for you.
No, not you, a child. There is a child. A little girl. Two at most. Someone starts screaming. They tear her apart.
The pain in the voice of whoever is screaming rips you apart.
Liar. Oath breaker. Kinslayer. That is who you love. They throw her head to you. Your lifeless little eyes stare right back at you. Your back hits something hard as you desperately try to back away.
