You wake up listening to a chorus of screaming voice.
The sleep was all gone as you took in the people sitting in a circle surrounding you.
Clad in black cloths face obstructed by a hood, their faceless cries made the atmosphere oppressive.
Their faces may be covered, but their black claws and rotting fingers were in open view.
You stood up to find a way out. To get away from that awful stench. Only to find yourself the centre of an endless see of similar eerie figures.
Their heads move in union eyes coming to rest on your face. Eyes that gleam and burn bright as dying stars.
Even the sound of your breathing sounds way too loud now that their cries have stopped.
A million pair of eyes stare at you in silence. Their meaningless cries and screams were better than this.
"Y/n?" A man? Rasps behind you. By the time you turn back, all of them have taken to the chant. "Y/n." "Y/n." "Y/n." "Y/n." "Y/n." "Y/n." "Y/n." "Y/n." "Y/n." "Y/n."
What are they? Where are you? Your throat closes up before you can scream these questions. You struggle to breathe as the air evades you.
Despite their chorus, you can hear a little girls voice.
Her petite figure is illuminated in the light. She stands at the far end of the circle, glowing. Wherever her light touches those black masses, shift and skitter away.
She walks right up to you and smiles. Her outstretched hand invites you.
You don't know why you hesitate. But she seems to be so much more than what she appeared to be.
Her smile doesn't diminish, and her outstretched hand remains unmoving.
"Who are you?" You ask her as your hand inches towards her hand.
"Now, don't tell me that you don't know me, little one." Her voice startles you more than her words. A deep male voice that sends shivers down your spine.
You step back. Horrified and shocked to the core.
"I- what?"
"You forgot, child? Or is it this form?"
You look to your sides and find only nothingness. Where were those scarey people?
Even they hadn't managed to make you feel as freaked out as she did. He did? Whatever.
"I am not who you think. My sweet." That little girl spoke in a grown man's voice, creeping you further.
You had no idea why the hell you couldn't speak was it because you were in shock still, or was it fear?
"Brawifagr is the name. My lady. Remember me when in time of need and I shall help you as best as I can." A little girl no longer the beautiful man came to stand in front of you and took your hand in his.
"Why?" Was the only question you had, and you voiced it too. In a scared and quiet little voice.
"I own you, little one." His white eyes seemed to look beyond you. To the existence of things you were still unaware of. "Remember the name, little one. Now you must go and so must I. Until we meet again young sorceress."
The bright light forces you to open your eyes.
Safe. In your... no, his room. His arms. But that god-awful sunlight slapped you in the face. Why, for the love of God, could he not use his damn magic for something useful like not having sunlight come in the first thing in the morning.
You sit up, still trying to rub sleep away. The nightmare had ended on a very happy note. Which was something to ponder on. But why should you have to do thay alone while he was still sound asleep next to you?
