The people clad in black were back again. You were sitting again in that damn circle.
But you could hear him. So loud, so loud.
The all too complex name that you had forgotten was repeating itself over and over in your mind.
The man from your dreams was waiting for you to say his unpronounceable name. That you had conveniently forgotten. Again.
You could hear nothing else. Didn't want to hear nothing else except for him.
He was in pain.
And he was thinking so loud.
So loud.
Must protect her.
You could hear him even when you were entangled in a nightmare.
Thor, you could ask him for help.
You put your entire mind in getting out of the said nightmare whilst you tried to call his brother with your powers.
"Help me. Please." You beg that man.
Thor help Loki. You all but scream at him.
The nightmare refused to let you wake up.
"Either you help me or you let me wake up or I will kill you and everyone here." The fire you did not know how to control was raging in your arms. Engulfing everything except the people, who now sat motionless.
"Yes little sorceress." The man who controlled the very wind and sky in your nightmares laughs a bit as he finally moved away from you and towards him. Even with nothing but just his magic he was powerfully enough to save him from whatever he was being haunted by. You knew it, by the surety in his step and the glow in his eyes.
You were trying so hard to wake up, but no avail. Please. Please. You kept repeating over and over.
You can hear Thor as he knocks at your door.
"Loki!" His voice booms.
He can't hear you! You want to scream but no avail.
That man is starting to go towards the washroom, was that where Loki was? Was it all only a dream still?
It felt like a dream as you watched him from a body not your own as he went to save him from God knows what.
How he was here, you didn't care. If he was here to help you were glad he was here.
No matter how unnerved you were as your dreams bled into reality.
"Loki!" Thor called him again.
Finally when a blood curling scream was let out you woke from your nightmare.
Thor was in your room as you finally, finally woke from your nightmare.
That man was no where to be seen.
"Loki!" You whispered in horror as he screamed the same.
You find him crying. And every part of you screams at you to protect him.
But from what?
From who?
Thor is standing as if he has seen a ghost. Unmoving, unblinking and a statue.
You ignore him as you walk towards Loki.
Why didn't you call Frigga? If she was here none of it would have happened.
"Lo? Are you.."
"No. You cannot be here no, no, no." He is almost on the verge of a panic attack.
You look to Thor for help but he's still unmoving.
The trick was to remain calm. Right?
Try to make him see sense. Maybe it was just a nightmare.
Like yours.
Of course it wasn't like yours.
His nightmares were things that had actually happened.
To him.
There was nothing scarier than listen to your own screams and knowing it could happen again.
Calm. No panicking.
"It was just a nightmare Lo." You try to reason with him. As shrinks back in on himself.
"Please go away." He almost begs.
That seems to do it for Thor, he's finally roused from his stupor.
"Loki," he starts and...
It's not real. He's not here.
"Brother, I promised you I'll come. See, I am here." He's almost crying too.
Just as you are.
He starts towards his brother, you try to stop him as Loki shrinks back on himself.
But he's already there. Holding his brother close, and the way Loki just hangs on to him as if he's all that there is.
That's exactly what he needed.
You stay where you are. Too afraid to make the wrong move. Too damn afraid to face any consequences that involved Loki in pain.
You had seen him like this before.
Not too often.
Every time one of those nightmares came they'd leave him senseless.
He would sometimes refuse to know anyone named y/n.
When those nightmares came he'd say you were something conjured up by the mind stone.
How else would they know exactly what I love? The smile. The conversations. The care. How could you know what to say to make everything right? He'd said that once when he was too lost.
He'd sit in a corner, rocking himself as he repeats not real, not real.
So many times. The words had lost its meaning near you.
And some days it was especially bad. Those days he'd lash out. His magic trying to protect him. His knives were not very forgiving either.
You got nicked once. A scar adorned at the place where your neck and shoulder joined.
He refused to let you back after that. For almost a month he wallowed in the fact that he had accidently harmed you.
One night he just came crying to you and crashed at your too small bed. Atleast for him it was small. His legs didn't even fit.
He held you so tight as he wept.
But every time he was like this it was like the very first time.
His sobbs have subsided. The rational Loki will take over soon.
The one for whome these things didn't happen.
The one who would never admit to hugging Thor or crying in his arms.
The one who was above all these things.
But for now he was yours to have.
Your kind, and funny and scared baby.
