Scarlett slowly opens her eyes and sits up from her sleeping bag on the floor. She rubs her eyes and looks down at her weapon. She sighs and slowly caresses it, running her hands over the small plastic gems that decorate it. She takes a deep breath and unzips her sleeping bag, standing up and throwing her arms to the side, and letting out a yawn. She continues rubbing her eyes as she makes her way to the locker room to start her first full day at Beacon. A few hours later, after being served a hearty breakfast the students are brought to a cliff overlooking a seemingly never-ending forest with green trees. The students are directed to stand on pressure plates. In front of them stand Headmaster Ozpin and Dean Goodwitch. Ozpin had in his hands a coffee mug halfway filled with coffee, and Ms. Goodwitch was holding a scroll enlarged to its tablet setting. Desmond crosses his arms and looks down at the forest, he huffs to himself before the old man takes a loud sip of his coffee. He rests his cup by his hip before looking among the crowd, however, he focuses on Grau and Desmond. Grau furrows his brow beneath his mask.
“For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in The Emerald Forest.” He states before Goodwitch steps forward.
“Now, I’m sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of Teams. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates. Today.”
Desmond tenses slightly, cursing under his breath. He hated working with others… Ozpin then chirps in.
“These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well.” Grau looks at the floor as if he were thinking about someone… “That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years.”
Scarlett groans and crosses her arms, she’s been waiting for this bad news.
“After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way, do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path… or you will die.” Grau looks down on the forest, crosses his arms, and thinks to himself, eyes closed.
“You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item -as well as your standing- and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?”
Many of the students talk amongst themselves, and Olive raises her hand to ask a question. “Uhm… Yeah… Sir-” she begins, slowly raising her hand.
“Good. Now, Take your positions.”
Desmond shifts his stance, and Grau straightens his mask, tucking it into his armor, A woman with deep purple hair adjusts her satchel. The tiles slowly activate and send the person standing on them rocketing through the air, starting with Olive, sending her screaming through the air. Ozpin smiles to himself before slowly sipping his coffee, watching as each student is thrown into the sky. However, his smile fades as he watches Grau, Desmond, and Scarlett fly into the forest. He takes another slow sip of coffee before turning to look down onto the forest. Scarlett glides through the air, occasionally using a flash of purple lightning to adjust her position, She reaches for her chest. From between her breasts, she pulls out a gauntlet sword. She holds it in front of her as she bores through the center of a tree and out through the other side. She uses the blade to slice the top of a tree off. She swiftly lands on the log and uses it to take her down to the dirt floor below. Scarlett slowly steps down from her wooden platform, wraps her fingers around the blade of her weapon, and shatters it, causing the weapon to turn into electricity and scatter back into her body. She takes a deep breath and starts forward, dusting leaves and twigs out of her outfit and hair.
