Donna sat down with Travis, her face lined with worry. "Travis, you need to join Taylor as her business partner."
Travis scoffed, shaking his head. "I'd rather die than work with that traitor."
"Travis," Donna said sternly, "you're suspended. You have no work, and you owe Taylor almost $100 million. The only way you can pay that back is by getting a job. You're not just getting a job—you're being posted directly as an owner. You need to consider this."
Travis clenched his jaw, the anger boiling inside him. "Fine," he muttered. "I have no other choice."
Meanwhile, Taylor was feeling incredibly nervous. She knew nothing about running a business, but she had to do this to save her house and her money. She walked into the office, where everyone greeted her warmly. She smiled at them, trying to hide her anxiety, and headed to her new cabin—Joe's old office.
Her heart pounded as she stepped inside. Memories flooded back: all the times she and Joe had spent there, talking, eating together, and the passionate moments when Joe didn't care who might enter, pushing her onto the table and having numerous rounds of sex with her. The intensity of those memories made her heart ache.
A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. She looked up to see Travis standing there, his expression unreadable.
Taylor looked up from her desk as Travis entered her office. She stood and extended her hand, trying to appear confident. "Oh, you're here. Welcome, Travis. I'm your new business partner, Taylor."
Travis ignored her outstretched hand and instead handed her a cheque for $25 million. "Here, take this. It's part of what I owe you. I will work hard to pay back the rest and then leave as soon as possible. Every second I see your face, I feel nothing but disgust and anger, so don't expect me to be friendly."
Taylor felt a pang of hurt but kept her composure. "Alright, Travis," she said softly. "Let's focus on getting through this."
Travis stormed off to his new cabin. As he entered, his eyes fell on a picture of Joe and Taylor that Joe had kept on his desk. Rage boiled inside him, and he grabbed the photo, throwing it to the floor and stomping on it repeatedly, cursing them both.
From the hallway, Taylor witnessed the scene, tears welling up in her eyes. Unable to take it, she turned and fled. Travis looked up just in time to see her leaving, her face streaked with tears. Realizing what he had done, he ran after her.
He found Taylor sitting in a corner of the hallway, crying uncontrollably. He hesitated for a moment, then slowly approached and sat down beside her.
"Why do you hate me so much, Travis?" Taylor sobbed. "I'm a victim too. I didn't know about any of this. I loved Joe, and he betrayed me just like Betty betrayed you."
Travis felt a wave of guilt wash over him. He had been so blinded by his own pain and anger that he hadn't considered Taylor's feelings. He remembered every harsh word and angry glare he had directed at her, and for the first time, he realized how much it must have hurt her.
He reached out and gently placed his hand on her shoulder. "Taylor, I... I'm sorry. I've been unfair to you. I let my anger control me, and I took it out on you."
Taylor looked at him, her eyes red and swollen from crying. "I understand, Travis. We're both hurting. But we need to find a way to work together. We can't let their betrayal destroy us too."
Travis nodded, his expression softening. "You're right. I'll try to be better, for both our sakes."
They sat there in silence for a while, the tension slowly ebbing away. Travis's touch on her shoulder was surprisingly comforting, and for the first time, Taylor felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, they could help each other heal.
