I hate the phrase "used to" with a fierce disdain,

It echoes of times now lost, of joy turned to pain.

We used to eat there, laugh and share our day,

We used to walk here, hand in hand, along the way.

We used to hold each other, our grip so tight,

We used to love each other, from morning till night.

But now those days are gone, like whispers in the breeze,

And the want for what's impossible brings me to my knees.

It sucks that I can't bring back the moments we shared,

Especially now that you're gone, leaving my heart bared.

It's annoying to long for what can never be,

I hate it, this ache, this relentless misery
