Takoma Park, Maryland - Pamela Perkins was enjoying a lazy moment on her day off in the bed she shared with her lover Faith Lane. She could not believe those words. Her lover Faith Lane. All her life she had never been lucky at finding love or even just a carefree sexual moment of fun. Even after she came out in college. Nobody had ever wanted her.

She was too perky.

She talked too much but that was mostly from nervousness and an overall shyness.

And she was fat. Her mother called it pleasingly plump but screw that. It was just fat. Of course her mother had helped make her fat with her way too delicious home cooking. Pies and cakes and cookies and pizza from scratch and meatloaf. And Mommy did not like people who didn't clean their plate. She hated diets and anytime Pamela tried to diet her mother would look at her like she had an eating disorder or something. It was why she was currently five foot two and two hundred pounds. Lord only knew what Faith saw in her, she thought as she listened to Faith belting out old school Motown from the bathroom where she was taking a shower and preparing for her job that terrified Pamela.

But now that she was living away from Mommy and her fatty delicious food she was free to diet. Which was why she was going to do the new diet she read about in a magazine she found at the rehab center lobby. It was for three weeks and all you ate was lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes plus drank eight glasses of water a day. The article said that Vice President Carrie Reese Dawson had lost fifteen pounds on it so she should be able to lose that much. Or more. Especially if she did it for six weeks not three. Double the weight loss. She was having a hard time convincing Faith about the diet though. Faith hated diets almost as much as Mommy did. She called them unhealthy and thought she should know better being a nurse. Nurse or not she wanted to be skinny. Being skinny would keep Faith.

After all she had seen pictures of Faith's other girlfriends. Like that Melinda Velez woman she was seeing before her. The one who left her and moved to Colorado. Thank God she had moved because she was gorgeous.

Pamela sighed. Even if she lost a hundred pounds she would never be that gorgeous.

Suddenly she heard Faith's phone ding from where it rested on the nightstand near Faith's spot. She glanced over at it , expecting to see a notification about a text from Faith's brother or brother in law or even Luci. But no. It was not from any of them.

Her eyes widened as she read the text message.

Melinda Velez: Hey , baby , you were right about me not liking Colorado. I'm back and with the state police now. Let's have coffee.

Pamela swallowed hard and a cold shiver came over her body. Ok. She would do the diet for ten weeks. What would it hurt? Especially if it made her beautiful and skinny enough to keep Faith.
