Richard Norland did something he normally didn't do.
Usually he ate a Gubhub delivered dinner at his desk as he kept working into the night. But that Monday night he hadn't wanted to do the same old same old. Part of him wanted to drive to his brother's house in Maryland but he was afraid of Spencer figuring out that Nigel had kissed him. And how much Richard had enjoyed it to his own perplexing wonder. Another part had wanted to search out Nigel and return the favor.
He had done neither of those things however. He did drive his Mercedes to Maryland though. To Cafe J which was one of his favorite restaurants although he was not solely a vegan. He did believe in watching his weight however. He was forty two now and not getting any younger.
He had stepped into the semi crowded restaurant and waited for the host to return to the podium and seat him. As he waited his shrewd grey eyes searched the establishment. He saw several there that he knew.
Faith Lane and her new girlfriend. Faith looked like she was about to be put on a firing squad as she ate her dinner. The girlfriend was rambling on about something.
And ..... he saw ...... Nigel..... smiling at the restaurant's owner Joe Jacobs..... He saw Jacobs leading the man back to his office with his hand pressed against Nigel's back. He saw the man's hand slip lower and squeeze Nigel's very delectable ass.
Richard swallowed. He wanted to rush over and irrationally pull Jacobs off of his man and beat the hell out of him.
Wait.... What..... His .... No. Nigel wasn't his man. And Richard wasn't..... He wasn't....
Richard exhaled an astonished breath as he abruptly turned around and strode out of the Cafe J.
He would go back to his lonely barren condo that Nigel had helped him pick and decorate. He would order in Thai. He would eat alone. He would maybe even get drunk on a bottle of scotch.
