Dr. DuBuis Lane stood in front of his hospital and was about to enter when all of a sudden he heard it.
He heard his husband saying from out of nowhere," How can you leave me alone right now? "
He froze suddenly in place and then looked around the outside of the hospital. Looked for his husband whose voice he had heard so clearly. Like he was near him. Close enough to touch.
Spencer.
" He heard him again, saying ," How can you leave me alone? Your job is protect me? But you failed me already. That's why I can't walk. "
He shook his head almost violently and tried to clear it of the voice. The voice he knew wasn't there. Because Spencer was not there.
Spencer was at home.
What the hell was happening to him lately?
" Hey ," he heard another voice say. Only this one was coming from the front entrance of the hospital. It was one of the ER nurses and his friend Austin " Angel" Anderson whose handsome tanned face as usual looked extremely irritated.
" You're late , Dr. Lane ," Angel snapped," and we're swamped. Get to work. "
