Chapter 19 - Home Sick

Talulah woke up with a sore throat, immediately coughing up a storm as she reached for the glass of water on her bedside drawer. With a headache, Talulah groans and attempts to get out of bed, though she trips from blurry vision and onto the floor. After thirty seconds of crawling to the closet, Talulah grabs her clothes to get ready, trying to ignore the killing headache being fueled by her friends' shouting from the common room. Talulah attempts to brush the tangles out of her hair, but it makes her head spin from pain, causing her to fall once again to the ground. From the common room, Rory and Sophia hear Talulah's fall, and they rush in to find her holding her head in pain.

Talulah - "Oww...My head—"

Rory - "Talulah! Are you okay?"

Talulah - "Yeah, I'm—cough—I'm fine. I just...I just have...I'M AWAKE!"

Sophia - "Okay, that's it. You're going back to bed."

Talulah - "I'm fine, Soph. I just need to—to get my hair brushed...Ow..."

Rory - "Nope! Come on, Sis."

Talulah - "But—But what about class?"

Sophia - "You're a top student with perfect behavior. The teachers are gonna have to be deal with you missing a day or two."

Rory - "They can't get mad at you for being sick."

Talulah reluctantly agrees to get back into bed, while Sophia and Rory head back to tell the rest of their friends she was sick. Everyone heads to class and pull a dramatically worried Valentina with them, while Talulah coughs into a tissue before lying back down. At the stables, the students greet their unicorns with love, while Feather waits impatiently for Talulah. At Ava's revelation that Talulah is sick, Feather rears up in protest, letting his displeasure become audibly known to the other unicorns. Cinder rolls his eyes at Feather's dramatics, while Leaf and Wildstar look at him with sympathetic eyes.

Layla - "Poor Feather. He looks so upset!"

Isabel - "Well, Talulah's not gonna be sick forever. I'm sure he'll be fine."

Ms. Wildwood - "Sorry, Feather, but since Talulah's sick today, I'm gonna have to keep you here."

Sophia - "Could Feather spend the day in the Wonder Wood Forest instead? Talulah's said he doesn't like being in confined spaces for too long."

Ms. Wildwood - "Hmm, I guess that's not a problem. Come on, Feather! We'll drop you off at the forest on the way to our nature trail."

Feather reluctantly lets Sophia open his stall, before immediately running for the doors to the outside. Everyone watched as he retreats the forest, where Feather kicks his legs and neighs with frustration. In the dorms, Talulah attempts to get up and grab a snack, but she falls as she gets to the door. A dwerpin enters her room and asks if she's in need of anything, and Talulah immediately surrenders to the sickness. Politely asking for a snack and some water, Talulah crawls back to bed and looks out the window, wondering what Feather was doing while she was in bed. Out on their nature trail, Wildstar spots Leaf looking towards the forest with nervousness, while the riders admire the scenery.

Ava - "Woah! This place is so pretty!"

Sophia - "It's too bad Talulah's sick. She would've loved this."

Valentina - "I swear, if my best friend is sick because one of you, I am gonna—"

Rory - "Relax, Val! I've got it all under control."

Isabel - "Uh, how exactly do you have it under control?"

Rory - "At lunch today, I'm gonna make some of my mom's famous sanchoco antioqueño! She'd make it for me whenever I was sick, and it's worked every time!"
