Summary - Charlotte and Mia have a fight.

Charlottes eyes narrowed as she watched the delivery man hand the package to Mia. He made no attempt to hide the fact that he was staring at the red heads breasts as she signed the delivery slip. The moment Mia had opened the door this guys jaw had fallen open and his eyes had practically bulged out of their sockets. Charlotte couldn't blame him really, Mia was wearing a red low cut silk nightgown with a matching robe - she looked stunning.

"Thank YOU very much" the delivery man commented as Mia handed him his clipboard back. She giggled as he winked at her, then with all the subtlety of a clown at funeral, he scanned Mia's body up and down pausing once again when he reached her chest.

"You're welcome Sweetheart" Mia replied. She winked back at him then shut the door, throwing the package onto the stairs. Just some clothes she'd ordered, she'd sort them out later. As she turned to look at Charlotte she was shocked to see the brunette simmering on the couch, staring directly at her with what looked like the rage of a thousand suns.

"Sweetheart, are you alright?" She asked tentatively. It wasn't like her girlfriend to be so angry.

"Not really Mia. What the fuck was that?"

Mia was shocked - Charlotte never swore.

"What was what?" She hadn't done anything, why was Charlotte so angry?

"THAT just then, flirting with that creepy delivery guy. Why would you encourage that kind of behaviour? He was looking at you like a piece of meat!"

Mia wasn't really sure how to respond. Sure the delivery guy was checking her out, but it wasn't as if he had any kind of chance. She was used to being objectified, it seemed to be part and parcel of having her body shape mostly, people saw her as inherently sexual. She'd learnt long ago that she couldn't stop people treating her like that, but she could use it to her advantage. It was other people's stupid fault if they thought they had a chance with her - in the meantime, the red head could use their stupidity to get what she wanted. It was just second nature to her, to brush it off.

"Char, it's not like I can stop people looking at me like that. You don't seriously think I had any interest in him?"

Charlotte looked into Mia's eyes, and for a moment, her heart hurt. The last thing she wanted was to hurt Mia, but she was sick of her being so flirtatious with strangers. She didn't think for second that her girlfriend would cheat, she just wished she would shut these leery perverts down.

"You are always doing it Mia, flirting with bar staff and store assistants - and I remember how you used to flirt with some of the Dads at the nursery. I know you can't stop them looking at you like that, but you can control how you react!" Charlotte was starting to raise her voice, this had bothered her for a while and it was all finally bubbling over.

Mia suddenly snapped her head backwards, letting out a groan. As she looked back at Charlotte, she angrily barked,

"You can't honestly think I'm going to start a fight every time some creep looks at me like that? Sometimes it's easier to just let it go Char. People can try to get into my pants all they like, they're never going to - so I'll take whatever benefits I can get from their assumptions! Do you know, one of the main things that made me like you at first was that you didn't do that! I knew you were attracted to me, but you looked at me like all you wanted to do was love me, and find out who I really am. You never looked at me like an object, that's why I'm here with you right now."

Charlotte let out a small gasp as she realised how upset Mia really was. It had never occurred to her that the red heads flirtatious personality was a defence mechanism. It wasn't Mia's fault that people made assumptions about her, and she was right - why should she have to put her self in danger by trying to correct other people's behaviour? Charlotte stood up and approached her girlfriend slowly, reaching out to gently grab her hand.

"I'm sorry Mia, I just hate the thought of people thinking of you that way. I know it's not your fault, and I don't want to spoil our day together." Charlotte hadn't been to Mia's for a while, as they had both been so busy. They had been so excited to finally spend some quality time together, and she was ruining it with petty jealousy.

Mia let the brunette take her hand, although the bruised part of her felt tempted to snatch her hand away. She didn't want to revert back to her old spiteful self, especially not with Charlotte.

"I'll stop flirting back with people if you don't like it Sweetheart. It's just become second nature to me, people are nicer to me when I do that. I'm not under any illusions that they care about me, I know they'd just use and discard me if they got the chance." She looked down as she said this and for the first time, Charlotte saw how vulnerable Mia truly was. She carefully placed her other hand over Mia's heart.

"Mia, I love you more than any fight we could ever have. You don't have to pretend with me, I love you from the inside out and I'm so honoured that you've chosen me."

Mia smiled in response and simply replied "I've waited for you all my life Sweetheart."
