Summary - Eric and his little friend upset Charlotte. Nobody hurts Charlotte's feelings on Mia's watch. Or Marjorie's, for that matter.
PSA - people stop acting like WLW relationships are for men's arousal and entertainment (challenge level impossible).
Just as Charlotte was about to walk into the staff room, she heard Eric's voice. She wasn't sure who he was talking to yet but he'd just mentioned her name. Usually she wasn't particularly nosy but she decided to wait by the door and listen.
"Yeah so last night, I look out of the window and I see Charlotte and Mia right? So they were chatting for a few seconds and then they started kissing, but Mia had Charlotte like, pushed up against her car."
Charlotte heard another voice "oh yeah?" She immediately realised that Eric was chatting to Scott - he was a temporary hire brought in by Reece, to help Eric with the garden landscaping for both of the nurseries. He'd only been there a couple of weeks but the two boys had been inseparable since he'd started. Scott continued "I'm sorry I missed it. Bet that was a sight for sore eyes."
Eric laughed in response and said "Mia is so fit." Scott quickly replied "do you know what, I'd have Charlotte personally. She's so cute." Eric made a humming noise indicating that he agreed "yeah she is cute to be fair. Wouldn't say no to being with them both. I'd pay good money to watch them together."
This was making Charlotte feel sick. It wasn't just what they were saying, it was the way they were saying it. They had no idea how much love Charlotte and Mia shared. Their relationship was so much more than just sex.
It was quiet for a few seconds but then Scott piped up again. "It's a bit of a shame really, two women like that and we've got no chance. Absolute waste." Eric excitedly replied "nah Mia used to date Reece you know? Also, Charlotte used to have a husband. I reckon they're both just mad for it, they're always feeling each other up in the car park, not that I'm complaining." Scott guffawed in response and said "I bet they're both so naughty. Hopefully I'm invited to the Christmas party, they just need a bit of encouragement I reckon."
Charlottes heart sank as she listened to them speaking so disrespectfully. She knew that they were young and she wasn't stupid - she was well aware that men stared lustfully when she and Mia were together. Charlotte really wanted to walk away but she felt rooted to the spot when Eric asked Scott a question.
"Would you rather watch them together, or get to be with one of them for an hour? You can only pick one." Scott was obviously thinking as he didn't answer straight away. Eventually he replied "I'd pick an hour with Charlotte. I think that butter wouldn't melt stuff is an act. I'm telling you she's a right little minx." As he laughed, she heard Eric join in. That was enough for Charlotte and she turned on her heel, hurrying to the nearest toilet cubicle. Once inside she locked the door and burst into tears - she felt so objectified. She'd always thought that Eric was harmless, he was only seventeen after all. Yes he could be a bit clueless, but after Marjorie had spoken to him it really had seemed as though he'd matured. Scott hadn't been there long enough for her to form much of an opinion, but hearing him talk about her like a piece of meat had made her feel nauseous.
When Charlotte was upset the only person she wanted to speak to was Mia. Digging her phone out from her pocket, she quickly selected Mia's name from her favourite contacts list and pressed the call button. She desperately needed to hear Mia's soothing voice comforting her and telling her that everything was ok.
As she explained what had just happened to Mia, the red head stayed quiet, allowing Charlotte to finish. The brunettes crying had mostly subsided but every now and again she'd make a little hiccup like noise that hurt Mia's heart. Once Charlotte had finished Mia simply replied "Sweetheart, don't worry. I'll see you very shortly" before hanging up.
