Summary - Mia and Charlotte go for a late night drive and listen to music.
A/N - this was a special request from Louisiana because if there's two things that girl loves, it's Amelia Roberts and Girls Aloud.
Mia and Charlotte had just finished dinner and now they were clearing the kitchen together. They'd not seen each other for almost a month so they were eager to spend as much time together as possible. As soon as Mia had stacked the last plate, she turned to Charlotte and smirked before asking "fancy a drive?" The brunette nodded enthusiastically in response and immediately rushed to grab her jacket.
Once they were settled in their seats Mia turned on the engine, immediately making Charlotte giggle. The engine in Mia's black mustang was far more powerful than any other car Charlotte had ever been in, so the noise it made always took her by surprise. The brunette watched as Mia backed effortlessly out of the driveway and as always, she wondered how someone's driving could be so controlled but so reckless simultaneously.
"It's your turn to choose the music" Mia said before adding "I bet you can guess what I'm in the mood for though?" The redhead glanced over at her girlfriend, eyes sparkling. Charlotte didn't even need to think about it as she plugged her phone in and opened up Spotify. A couple of months previously, she and Mia had spent an entire evening creating several playlists. They'd laughed together as they drank more and more wine, listening to songs that reminded them of each other. The first time they'd ever gone for a late night drive Mia had wound down the roof and blasted Girls Aloud, singing to Charlotte and trying to make her laugh. Now, whenever Charlotte heard a Girls Aloud song all she could think of was Mia, her red hair fluttering in the wind.
Charlotte selected the playlist she'd created titled "Wake Me Up 🖤" and pressed shuffle. She'd never told Mia but sometimes when she missed the red head, she'd fall asleep listening to the playlist she'd made, dreaming of their next late night drive. Just being with Mia, music blaring, all of their cares forgotten for the moment made Charlotte feel free. When "Biology" started playing both women started singing immediately, it was one of their favourites. Suddenly, Mia placed her hand on Charlottes arm and said "oh my god, I've never done the biology dance for you. I'll have to show you one time." The brunette couldn't help but laugh as she replied "you know the dance off by heart? That's so cute Mia."
Mia frowned playfully "I am not cute. But yes, I remember learning the dance in my room when I was younger, I was obsessed!" Charlotte loved learning these little facts about her girlfriend and the more she knew, the more she loved her. "I'd love to see you do that dance, but good luck teaching me, you know I've got no rhythm." Mia shook her head "yes you do, you're so hard on yourself. You're a good little dancer actually." Charlotte immediately blushed and imagined them crying with laughter together as Mia tried to teach her the dance moves.
They were driving along the coast now and the sun had almost set. The next song started playing and as Charlotte realised it was "I Can't Speak French" she was snapped out of her hazy daydream caused by the sight of the sea. It was her turn to excitedly grab Mia's arm as she shouted "I used to LOVE this music video." As she started singing and bobbing her head around, Mia smiled and replied "me too" before joining in. She was so happy to see Charlotte so carefree, especially after everything she'd been through. It didn't seem as windy anymore so she pressed the button to wind the roof down, she knew how much Charlotte loved the fresh air.
They drove for a little while longer until it was completely dark. Eventually Mia stopped in a little lay-by and for over an hour, they sat together and chatted. When "I'll Stand By You" came on, Mia looked over at Charlotte and said "this song always reminds me of us. When I came to find you in that bar, I was ready to do anything for you." Just as she grabbed Charlottes hand, the words "I get angry too, well I'm a lot like you" played out, making both of them smile. Since being together they'd taught each other so much, both learning to be a little more like the other. "I'll always stand by you Char, you know that don't you?" The brunette simply nodded, safe in the knowledge that now she always had someone in her corner.
As they began their journey back towards Charlottes house, they both momentarily became lost within their own thoughts. Just a few months ago things had been so different and so difficult. Now, as Mia drove them along the winding coastline everything was peaceful. Just as Mia was thinking how thankful she was that Charlotte loved her back she realised that "Wake Me Up" was playing. As usual when she heard this song, Charlotte giggled and said "this song is so you Mia. Especially when you're driving." The red head squinted her eyes slightly and asked "what do you actually mean by that?" Charlotte thought for a moment and replied "it's mainly the line, I think you're off your head. It's a good job I know you're a safe driver really Mia." The red head gasped with faux offence before saying "alright, you can drive next time, Miss Passenger Princess." Charlotte laughed in response and said "as if you'd let me drive. I was born to be chauffeured by you, you've already told me that."
Just as Charlotte finished her sentence, the song "Call The Shots" came on. Mia smirked to herself as she looked over at her girlfriend and wondered how she'd found herself so completely wrapped around someone else's little finger. She raised her eyebrows and said "call the shots indeed."
"Right now the whole world could call me ugly
So what, to you I'm not
You don't love me cause I'm beautiful
Oh no
I'm beautiful cause you love me
Beautiful cause you love meTheres a new meaning to freedom when I'm with you"
