The next morning, they made their way out of Rivendell, trekking through a land of Deep Valleys and turbulent waters.
"We must hold to this course west of the misty Mountains for forty days. If our luck holds, the Gap of Rohan will still be open to us. From there, our road turns east, to Mordor." Gandalf says.
Y/n walks with the hobbits during their journey, listening to them as they talked. Frodo held a conversation with Y/n about her travels and what she had learned along the way. Frodo found comfort in the female elf's presence during their journey.

Eventually they made it to the rocky area called Eregion Hills. Sam was at a campfire, while Boromir taught Pippin and Merry how to sword fight. Frodo sat next to Y/n who was enjoying herself as she watched Pippin and Merry spar with Boromir. Further from Y/n and Frodo, Gimli and Gandalf were talking.
Boromir thrusts his sword, catching Pippin on the hand. Pippin throws down his sword, kicks and lunges at Boromir, tackling him to the ground. Merry joins in making Aragorn, Y/n, and Frodo laugh at the sight.
Y/n suddenly stops laughing as her ear catches distant sounds, she looks off into the distance, as well does Legolas. Their eyes are fixed on a dark patch in the sky, almost looking like black smoke, but moving quite quickly.
"What is that?" Sam asks as he stands up.
"Nothing...it's just a wisp of a cloud." Gimli says as he smokes on his pipe, not looking back at the dark patch.
"It's moving fast... against the wind." Boromir says, slightly worried as he brushes himself off.
"Crebain!" Y/n cries out.
"From Dunland!" Legolas says.
"Hide!" Aragorn yells.
Y/n wraps her arms around a surprised Frodo and rushes over and under a rock, using her body as a shield as they hid. Frodo looked up at Y/n's face as her arms were wrapped around his head and torso. Her face was neutral, but her eyes held worry as she looked out at the swarm of large crows circle above them. Y/n's hand was on Frodo's head as she basically hugged the hobbit closer to her.
After the crows leave, Gandalf is the first to emerge. "Spies of Saruman. The passage South is being watched... We must take the pass of Caradhras!"
Y/n helps Frodo onto his feet and makes sure he is okay before going to Sam, Merry, and Pippin to check on them. Frodo looks at Y/n before looking up at Gandalf who ushers him to move. Y/n stays with Merry and Pippin until they reach the snowy hills, she then starts to fall back as to keep an eye on Frodo who was in the back and Sam, Merry, and Pippin who were in the front. Y/n stops when she hears someone fall, looking back, she sees Frodo in the snow and Boromir picking up the ring. Y/n put her hand on the hilt of her sword, as does Aragorn.
"Boromir." Aragorn says wearily.
"It is a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt over so small a thing... such a little thing." Boromir says, looking at the ring almost transfixed by it.
"Give the ring back to Frodo." Y/n says, her hand tightening on the hilt of her sword. There is a moment of silence as Y/n edges closer.
Boromir snaps out of his trance and hands the ring to Frodo. "As you wish. I care not." he says lightly as he rustles Frodo's hair. He turns and looks at Y/n before seeing her let go of her sword, a look of disdain on his face. After Boromir passes her, she goes to Frodo, brushing off the snow. Frodo doesn't say it, but he saw the relief and suspicion in her eyes when Boromir passed her.
"Come Y/n, we can't waste time." Aragorn says to her. Y/n stands up and walks away from Frodo, making him frown slightly at the fleeting warmth of her touch.
The fellowship struggle through the deep snow while Y/n and Legolas walk on top of the snow. Her and Legolas stop as a voice echoes through the air.
"There is a fell voice in the air." Legolas says. He turns to look at the others and Y/n who was beside him.
"It's Saruman." Gandalf says.
Suddenly, snow and rocks started falling. Y/n quickly turns and looks at Frodo, who was looking at her.
"He's trying to bring down the mountain. Gandalf! We must turn back!" Aragorn hollers over the wind.
"No!" Gandalf yells before chanting. "Losto Caradhras, sedho, hodo, nuitho I ruith. Sleep Caradhras, be still, lie still, hold your wrath."
"It's not working..." Y/n whispers as she continues to hear Saruman's voice like thunder. Suddenly lightning hits the side of the mountain. Aragorn pulls Sam and Frodo close to the mountain face as Legolas pulls Gandalf to safety. Frodo looks at Y/n fearfully as she is buried in the snow as she quickly shields Merry and Pippin. Snow comes down in an avalanche, burying the fellowship. Aragorn and Boromir start digging in the snow, getting Gimli, Merry, and Pippin out of the snow.
"Where's Y/n?" Merry asks with chattering teeth, making the others look around until they see her hand shoot out of the snow, close to the cliff's edge. Aragorn and Legolas pull her out and away from the edge. Frodo stays where he is but his worried look goes unnoticed by the wizard.
"We must get off the mountain! Make for the Gap of Rohan and take the West road to my city." Boromir shouts.
"The Gap of Rohan takes us too close to Isengard." Aragorn says over the wind. Frodo had made his way over to the elleth as she checks over him for any injuries before putting her forehead on his as a way of showing her relief.
"We cannot pass over the mountain. Let us go under it. Let us go through the mines of Moria." Gimli hollers.
Gandalf looked over at Frodo, who looked worriedly at the elleth who had moved her head into her hand. Sam was standing beside Frodo as he tried to stay warm as well.
"Let the Ring bearer decide!" Gandalf says. Frodo looks at Gandalf before looking at his friends and Y/n.
"I shall follow you wherever you decide to go." Y/n says quietly, a small smile on her lips.
"Frodo?" Gandalf asked.
"We will go through the mines." Frodo says.
Gandalf nods slowly. "So be it."
As they start to make their way down, Frodo notices Legolas is behind helping Y/n walk. His eyebrows furrow until a hand rests on his shoulder.
"She twisted her ankle trying to keep your friends from being swept away by the snow. Legolas is trying to make sure she doesn't put pressure on it until we get to the mines." Gandalf says.
"I guess I'm surprised that Elves can get hurt like us." Frodo says, ignoring the churning in his gut at the sight of someone having their arms around Y/n.
