I jerked my eyes open to an inky blackness. The darkness surrounding me was coarse, unlike the one I'd closed my eyes to before falling asleep. This one was angrier, thicker with a sense of vengeance.

I rose a hand up in front of me carefully. I felt nothing, I saw nothing, not even my own hand directly in my peripherals. "Hello?" I called out, and a tinier version of my own voice echoed back. And again. Then again, gradually fading into oblivion. "Hello?" My voice was firmer now, though the echoes hadn't much semblance.

I banged my feet on the ground and lighter thumps echoed back. The ground vibrated back like it was made of glass. Hard, unbreakable glass. God, what was going on? I had no idea but I knew I had to get out of there. Fast.

The darkness around me began to make me claustrophobic. I felt a wave of nausea as my eyeballs danced around in dizziness. Slowly but surely, I placed one foot in front of the other, walking in the direction I wasn't even sure of.

I kept walking, each thumping of my foot whispering the tiniest of echo before then fading away. Well, one thing I knew for sure was, I was alone, in this big, eerily spacious room. My heart drummed in anticipation and my breath began to hitch from claustrophobia as I walked into even thicker darkness. I felt my stomach clench suddenly, and my eyes beginning to roll back, warning me that I was about to pass out.

Then, just as I began to feel the full effect of nausea wave over me, I saw a tiny glint of light and I buckled my knees. As I walked closer to the source, the light became brighter, repelling the darkness that surrounded it. As I squinted my eyes coming closer, I discovered that this was no ordinary light. This light was a human. An actual person standing in front of me, radiating an intense amount of light.

"Who are you?" I carefully asked to which tiny whispers of echo answered back, leaving traces of goosebumps all over my skin. With a racing heart and squinted eyes, I observed her carefully.

She was about five feet, five inches tall, and telling by the soft curves around her jawline, high cheekbones and chubby cheeks, she was a young girl, like me. Her lips were plump and round, coloured in what looked to be white lipstick that radiated more glow than most of her body parts. Her eyes were made of white fire, burning up to her forehead as she started right back at me.

Her bright hair was a warmer glow that stopped just at the point where her shoulder met her arms. I pieced together her features slowly. Then suddenly, I stepped back in astonishment when I discovered, this girl stand stood right in front of me, glowing in an unnatural amount of light. That girl was me.

My heart began drumming loudly in my ears as my mouth dried up in fear. I braced my leg to take another step back when this strange creature pretending to be me pointed out a glowing finger in my direction.

I looked down up at her burning eyes and glowing finger before taking a cautious step towards her. Then, I swallowed hard and reached out my own index finger. My entire arm trembled as I drew it out towards hers. Nearer and nearer, until our fingers were barely an inch apart.

Then, without giving it another thought, I straightened my entire arm and made contact with her glowing finger.

I jerked out of sleep with a sharp inhale as I took in the surroundings around me. Bed, bookshelf, table, lamp, closet…I was back in my room, broad day light seeping in through the window.

I looked down at my sweatshirt and noticed the darker patch from my chest, lining to the space in between my breasts. Sweat. I sat up on my bed with an audible grimace, feeling the pound vibrating through my skull, and my racing heart that drummed loudly behind my chest.
