Underworld

We were headed straight for the fire temple and were hoping it's not too late. "Kai!" Cole yelled out, hoping to find the other. No luck. I was hoping he was just unconscious. I can heal unconscious. I can't heal the dead. "Sensei!" That old man better still be alive. I don't know how I'd go on without him; the man was practically my father after all!

"The sword of fire was here. As well our friends, but I only sense loss." I bit back a sob. No. No sensei can't be gone! He just can't be! I gripped onto Cole as he was closest and let a few tears run down my face. He held me gently, and rubbed my back as Zane said the words I was dreading to hear. "We are too late. The elemental weapons have left this realm and are now in the underworld. The end is drawing near." Cole gently sat the both of us down, groaning.

"Great. The one place no mortal can cross over." I sniffed a couple times, before hearing Kai's voice speak from somewhere up above.

"We may not be able to cross over." The temple behind us started to slide open, and we all backed up, to see Kai sitting on a dragon, an unknown girl who I can only assume to be Nya sitting behind him. "But a dragon can!" He said, excited. Cole shrieked and hid behind a nearby pillar. I laughed at him, to which he glared at me. The others seemed a little nervous to the idea, and while I was too, at least I wasn't terrified like Cole.

"Our father used to tell us stories about the dragons." Nya spoke while Kai jumped down from the dragon. "They were mystical creatures that belong to both worlds and ferried between them. Cole sputtered for a second before speaking. Well, more like shouting.

"Are you insane?!"

"Once he realized we were trying to protect the sword of fire, heh, he actually became quite a softy." The dragon nuzzled up to Kai, who laughed. "Hey, knock it off!" Nya giggled too.

Jay tried to ask her something, signing a bit as a habit. She looked confused, and I was quick to translate. "He lost his voice and wants to know if you like blue."

"It's my favorite color." Jay let out a weak 'yes' while pumping his fist. Kai shook his head at him. Nya just hopped down.

"Nya?"

"This is goodbye, isn't it?" Kai nodded. "Come back to me in one piece, okay? I don't want to have to run the store on my own."

"I promise I won't be gone for long." Kai said hopping back onto his dragon.

"I'll leave a candle lit outside our shop until your return." She said as three of us got on the dragon. Cole was still hiding behind a pillar.

"Cole?"

"You guys go on ahead. There's not enough room for all of us on that thing." He said nervously. The dragon glared at him, unimpressed.

"You're right Cole. But I've got a way to fix that." I like where this is going.

Shortly, we all had our own dragons from the ruins where we got our weapons. Cole was standing on his, holding on to the saddle. It was quite clear he was scared out of his mind. "E-Easy! Not so fast!"  He said. Yep, definitely scared. I flew up next to him.

"It'll be fine. If you fall, I'll be there to catch you, Cole." He looked at me, a familiar spark in his eye. I smiled from under my mask, and hoped He'd see it.

"Woah! This is awesome!" Jay shouted, and I giggled.

"It's amazing!"

"Yes, this is quite fun!" Zane said in a near monotone. Jay whooped in joy, and Cole asked something.

"So how do the dragons cross over to the underworld?" The dragons sped up for a second.

"I think we're about to find out!" Kai said as they all went for a nosedive. It was so cool, but a little scary too! Then they started to spin, and I wanted to vomit. I closed my eyes to stop the vertigo, and when I opened them again, I was amazed by the sight of glowing rocks and tunnels.
