Jay had been teaching me how to play video games when I wasn't training, and I was getting to the point where they were kind of fun! But I didn't feel confident in playing with the others yet, so I let them do their thing while I practiced outside. Sure, I enjoyed them, but I felt I had too much energy to even attempt them right now, plus the fact I didn't feel good enough at them to play with the boys. "Y/n?" I heard sensei ask. I looked up from my practice.
"Yes da- Sensei?" Almost called him dad again. That would have been embarrassing. He chuckled.
"Have you seen your brothers anywhere?"
"No, but I think I know where they are." I played with my fingers.
"And I do too." He motioned for me to follow, likely having something to talk about with all of us. While we walked to the T.V. room, he stopped for a second. "Y/n." I paused. "I've noticed you tend to refer to me as a father figure in your life." I went red in the face, embarrassed. "It's been fifteen years since I found you. We have had no luck in tracking down your biological family." It was true. We had even done a DNA test to see where I might be from, but oddly enough, they were inconclusive.
"I... Sensei, what are you trying to say?" I was confused where he was going with this.
"You already have been calling my brother your uncle. My sister-in-law and mystake your aunts, and Lloyd your cousin. yet you hesitate to call me father. Why is that?" I look to the ground.
"I just, I asked my aunts and uncle to call them that. I've lived with you for so long, and you told me to call you sensei when you first found me. I thought you'd be uncomfortable if I just started calling you dad." I looked up to meet his eyes. "But when you get down to it, I don't care about finding my family. They're right here. They didn't want me. I don't remember anything about them. You raised me, and somewhere along the line, I just started thinking of you as my dad." I paused, taking a deep breath. "If you want me to stop-"
"Stop? Why would I want you to stop?" Confusion filled my face. "The day I took you in, I started thinking of you as my responsibility. Someone I had to care for and protect. I started thinking of you as my daughter." He gently gripped his hand in mine. "And I would be honored for you to refer to me as your father."
I hugged him, tears in my eyes, holding back sobs. He patted my back, and we stood there for a minute, the silence filled with the boys yelling about the game they were playing. I pulled away after a minute to see sensei, my dad, smile at me. "Come. We have a lot to talk about with your brothers." I chuckle.
"Yeah. We do." Sensei opened the door and let out a small sigh, since they were indeed playing video games and slacking off. He unplugged the TV and was met with groans of anger and disappointment.
"It took us three hours to get there!" Cole cried out angrily.
"Why would you do that? Why?"
"Just because Lord garmadon escaped through a vortex, doesn't mean he won't return one day for the golden weapons of spinjitzu!"
"But sensei, ever since he's been gone, there's been nothing but peace in ninjago."
"Yeah, peace is boring. There's no one to save, there's nothing to do."
"We can train tomorrow." Cole said, laying back.
"Never put off until tomorrow what can be done today."
"Well, I was going to eat this pizza tomorrow, but in that case-"
"No pizza for you!" Sensei said, kicking it out of his hand. "In order to reach your full potential, you must train."
