We were all training for once, the new drive in the boys making it so they were working harder than I had ever seen them before. The boys were yelling out made up moves to hype themselves up, while I was practicing with my Sai's to see just how much stronger they could make me. I will admit, they gave me a much better control over my powers, and I could heal major injuries much faster which we found out thanks to Jay breaking his arm while sparring Cole. I didn't want to train for much longer though, since my hair was bothering me today for some reason. Even with it tied up, the feeling of it against me made my skin crawl. However, we only had about thirty minutes left of training for today, so I decided I was going to try and fight through it.
I leapt up in the air to throw the Sai's at a target, and slipped on ice. Wait, ice? It's summer? I sighed, getting up and working to heal my bruised tailbone, looking at Zane annoyed, walking over to the boys, Kai limping a bit from his fall. I placed my hand on his spine and worked to heal him, finished with my own injury. "This roof isn't big enough for the five of us."
"Correction, this roof isn't big enough for him." Cole said, motioning to Zane.
"It's like he's in his own world. I bet he can't even hear us." Jay said a little louder. Zane didn't even look over.
"At least he could have warned us. I bruised my tailbone pretty bad slipping on that ice."
"That's what I'm saying!" Kai said. Cole looked at me, concerned.
"Are you alright now?" I nod, my hand already off Kai's spine. Zane was training by himself as dad walked over to us.
"Sensei, Zane's weird."
"What is weird? Someone who is different? Or someone who is different from you?"
"No sensei he's weird, weird. I was using the bathroom and he came in and just started brushing his hair."
"Or the time he laughed at a sad part of a movie."
"I went for a midnight snack, and he was sitting in the fridge. He then offered me cheese."
"He tried to make me feel better during a meltdown once, by trying to destress me. He then stressed me out even more by accidentally triggering my sensory processing disorder. When I cried harder, he just blinked at me in confusion before walking out of the room."
"That's why that breakdown was so bad." Cole muttered to himself, sending a glare in Zane's direction. Cole and Zane are the only ones who know about that one, since Zane, confused, left my room, and ran into Cole. He then mentioned that I was crying, and he was unsure of what to do.
"We like the guy he's really smart and all but he's off sometimes." I said. It sounded weird saying that, knowing how I was also off sometimes.
"Zane is a brother, and brothers are often different. I would know." The gong crashed, and the boys ran to the door. Zane stood there, unsure of what to do, and I patted his shoulder.
"Come on, let's spar." That always cheered him up. The boys all got their mail while Zane and I got into position with our weapons. Before we were able to start though, Jay asked something that made Zane's mood go all sour again.
"Hey Zane, how come you never hear anything from your parents?"
"I don't remember my parents. I've been an orphan my whole life, much like y/n."
"You mean you've never had a home?" Zane shook his head. Kai looked at me.
"The monastery's been my home for as long as I can remember." I spoke. "And now it's Zane's home too." Zane walked away, sad.
