Walkers

I woke up the next morning to the sound of Dad's gong. "Evil doesn't sleep and neither should you!" He yelled in the boy's room. I looked at Nya, who was death glaring the sound as I covered my ears. "In order to reach your full potential, we must greet each day as an opportunity!" I went to the sound, not caring I was still in my Pajamas, which was simply an oversized tee shirt that reached my mid-thigh that I may or may not have stolen from Cole.

It smelled good, okay?

I could just faintly hear the boys talk, and I walked in, rubbing my eyes. "If we're going to reach our full potential, shouldn't we at least get a full night of rest?" Kai yawned, trying to open the blinds, which simply fell to the floor.

"You call that rest? I think my back has more lumps than the mattress." He seemed to take notice of me and did a double take. "Is that my shirt?" I looked away, saying nothing. The boys were much too tired to tease him about this right now, which I was glad for.

"We were up so late talking about how cool it is to have a new headquarters, I guess we lost track of time." He walked over to the sinks, but I didn't hear water. "Since the serpentine burned down the monastery, I'm just glad we have a roof over our heads-" He spat violently, and I'm guessing what came out was indeed, not water, but likely sand.

"What is our lesson today sensei? Mastering the strike of the scorpion? Or perhaps the grade of the- Woah!" The floorboards gave out beneath him, making him cough from the dust.

"I think today's lesson will be chores."

"Chores?!"

"Ninja fight sensei, they do not clean."

"Says who?" I challenge. He didn't have an answer.

"In order to respect ourselves, we must respect our new home and where we are from. And this place is a long way from being a ninja headquarters." He started to leave. "I expect things to be spotless when I return. And put your backs into it." He crashed the gong one last time before leaving.

"Ugh, this place is going to take forever to clean and fix up." Kai groaned as Cole helped Zane out of the hole.

"Not unless we put more than our backs into it." Jay said with a smile.

After we got dressed, we each started doing things around the ship. I used my spinjitzu to clear out junk with Cole and then cleaned the windows. While the boys cleaned the deck, I worked on making sure the pipes worked with the help of a book, and Jay helped me out some too. Soon enough, the bounty had clean water.

When Dad and Nya got back, we were all playing a video game on an old TV. Kai turned around as they entered. "What took you so long?" Nya looked around in awe.

"Wow! This place looks amazing! You guys did all this? You didn't just dump everything onto y/n?"

"Believe me, if they did, their asses wouldn't be sitting down. Zane's standing cause he wants to."

"Ninja don't just fight Nya, the clean." Cole said, barely looking away from the video game we were all playing.

"Oh, you have exceeded my expectations. But can you keep it up?" The sound of a car horn sounded from far away.

"Looks like we're about to get some visitors. Loud ones at that."

"Oh, it's my parents. Please, if they start yapping, just don't get them going! They don't know when to quit. And if you start talking, then they start talking, and suddenly half the day is gone-"

"We get it! They talk a lot. The cherry doesn't fall far form it's blossom."

"It would certainly seem so."

"Mom, dad, what are you doing here?"

"Oh, look, it's my baby boy! It's been so long since we heard from you!"

"Ma, I called you two days ago." Jay said, walking up to his parents.

"Well, it's not soon enough son. When are you coming out to the junkyard?" Mr walker asked. "You always say you'll come, and you don't." Jay's face was red with embarrassment.

"Dad, do we have to talk about the junkyard in front of my friends?" He groaned, making us all snicker.

"He hates it when we tell people he was born in a junkyard." She gasps when her eyes land on Nya. "And who are you? Oh you're so cute, just my son's type!"

"Ma!" I giggle, and Mrs. Walker smiles at me.

"Well aren't you a beautiful young lady!" I freeze up, but Nya saves me from having to talk by laughing herself.

"Thank you. How about a tour? Jay worked verry hard on this."

"No I-"

"We'd love a tour!" Jay groaned, but ended up complying. Looks like he can't really say no to his parents. I smile softly as Jay leads them inside the Bounty, and can't help but wonder who my real parents are. It's something that always bugged me. I have no memories from before five years old. Just knowledge of my name and the name of my stuffed bear. I felt tears well up slightly at the memory of my bear. She meant so much to me, but there was nothing I could have done for her.

"And this is the bridge. This extends into a periscope, telling us what goes on in ninjago." he spins it around, saying that. "And this, if a serpentine isn't giving us the answers we want, and we're up late at night-"

"A neuro apparatus to read their minds?"

"An audio appliance to make them talk?"

"No, a cappuccino machine." Jay said, making some Coffee. I wasn't a fan of it personally, but the others liked it well enough. I didn't have to drink it if I didn't want to anyways.

"Ha, ha! Amazing son! We're so proud of you!"

"Why don't you tell them about the button?" Cole suggested to Jay. He just laughed nervously, sounding a bit frustrated.

"It's not ready yet." He said through clenched teeth.

"Ooh, what's the button?"

"He's working on a special defense system."

"Something every ninja headquarters needs." Kai joined in the teasing train.

"Really? What does it do, can I help?" Ed asked, only for Jay to start to push him away.

"No, it's okay, I don't need your help dad. Let's just leave it alone." He looked at an imaginary watch. "Hey, look at the time! Don't you need to get back before it gets dark? I told you, there's dangerous serpentine out there." Jay warned. With that, he started to herd his parents out of the bounty.

"Uh, I suppose we could get back." He said, sounding upset that his son was pushing him away.

"Edna, it was a pleasure to hear about Jay's first potty time." Cole teased, and I giggled.

"Oh, if you thought that was good, wait until you hear about the time I caught him kissing his pillow." We all laughed at that, much to Jay's embarrassment.

"Ugh, snakes ma, snakes!" He reminded.

"Okay, we're going, we're going." She said, her and her husband starting to walk out of the bounty.

"So you promise to come to the junkyard and visit your mother and father?" Edna said as they got into their car.

"Yes, I promise, but only if you leave. I don't want you to get hurt. It's getting dark. Your headlights are working, right?" As he asked that, they flipped them on, making everyone cover their eyes from how bright they were.

"Heh, you like them? I used a little extra juice." Ed turned them off, and they started to pull away. "Yep. Bye son! Couldn't be more proud!"

"And bring Nya with you! I can see why you like her!"

"Mom!" He groaned. It was cute though, how much his parents cared. I didn't have actual parents growing up. Just dad.

"Now that they have left, perhaps Jay could teach us the art of kissing pillows." Dad snickered after saying that, and the rest of us burst out laughing. Jay groaned and stormed back inside.
