She shut her eyes on the car ride to his place, pretending she was fast asleep. All the while, Zubby was attending to work calls. She marveled at how he maintained his calm, solving one issue or the other. Maybe that could be her one day, taking care of her own empire. She was about drifting off for real when she heard him talking to a friend. His tone changed, becoming much softer and carefree so she tuned in, realizing it was Kachi.
"...we're going to be late," his voice boomed through the car speakers. "Zariah decided to make a cake for dessert even when I told her we could just pick one up. We are all dressed but now we're sitting in the kitchen, waiting on the oven timer to go off." The man sounded annoyed yet happy.
Zubby laughed for a few seconds. "It's not like they care about us bringing something. It's actually better to go empty handed than to keep Ada waiting, especially in her condition."
"What condition?" A woman asked on Kachi's end. "She is pregnant. Why did you say it like she'd tolerate the lateness any other day?"
"Nkem, chill na. You know he's just being Azu. He doesn't mean anything by it." The two started arguing but they must have shifted from the phone because she couldn't really hear what they were saying. Zubby sighed, probably wondering what was going on. Then she heard a moan and a distinct male laugh before Zubby finally hung up.
"They're at it again," he muttered to himself. She almost asked him who was Nkem and what he meant, then held her tongue, preferring to keep eavesdropping under the pretense of sleep. Maybe Zariah's name was also Nkem.
After about five more minutes, he honked and then black gates slid open. She watched from the corner of her eyes, mesmerized at the beautiful duplex that was nestled inside. She had seen pictures of this place, but seeing it up close was surreal. His hand dropped to her thigh, slightly shaking her. Ijeoma made a show of slowly rousing, then she faked a yawn and stretched out her arms before turning to look at him.
"Are we there yet?" She gave him a small smile which he returned, causing her chest to tighten. He was wearing just singlets and his now rumpled slacks, yet the man looked this delicious. When her mind drifted to the reason he was currently without his shirt, she immediately turned away.
"Yes. This is my home," he finally replied. Just like she'd come to expect of him, he got out of the car, went around and then opened the passenger door for her. She thanked him and he led her out, into the apartment that she'd devoted months into figuring out a way to get in before deciding that the only way in was on his arms.
The lights came on automatically when he opened the door and ushered her in. He held her waist, suddenly pressing her back to his front. The man was rock solid behind her and his cock was pressing into her backside. "I could smell us all through the drive here. I guess I should have taken that shower at your place."
Zubby had refused to share the shower with her, claiming that they were late and he would find it hard to behave if they got in the shower together. She'd offered again when she was out, but he'd silenced her with a dizzying kiss and pushed her towel down before asking her to get dressed. She'd remained dazed as she did her skincare while he went and gathered his things. So yes, he did indeed still smell like sex, which was surprisingly attractive. It brought on memories of all they'd done and coupled with the fact that he was now pressed against her, his body heat enveloping her, all she wanted to do was jump his bones.
"What are you going to do about this?" He bit her ear lobe before soothing away the sting.
"About what?" Ijeoma managed to reply with the giant ball now lodged in her throat. Her body was reacting so strongly to him. It was as if he'd woken an animal in her that refused to be satiated. Zubby turned her around, his eyes arresting hers, then he held her hand and pressed her fingers against his cock. She shut her eyes, focused on breathing properly.
