"You're not coming in?" she frowned and Azu found himself smiling. He didn't know when or how but he'd begun to find everything she did attractive. The way her eyebrows drew together and her small lips turned into a pout, everything drew him in."I actually have a flight to catch in an hour. I need to pick up some things first. That's why Ahmed is driving today. I don't want to leave my car at the airport."
"But you just got into town! How come you're leaving again?"
"You're already missing me." He wiggled his brows in an attempt to make her laugh. The corner of her lip lifted but she immediately smoothed it back down. This girl. He wasn't even surprised anymore. She was very stingy with her expressions, especially the positive ones. A memory of her smiling with Dare came to mind, but he immediately pushed it away. He'd revisit later.
"I'm not. I'm just curious."
"I came in for a meeting, now I'm going to see Ada's people with Chike. As his family."
"They've fixed the wedding date?" Her brows scrunched up in confusion.
"No. We're going to tell her family that she's pregnant. If it was another girl, Ada's parents would be the one going with him because they raised him. But now it's complicated and we don't want him to go alone."
"Oh. Okay." She shifted from one foot to the other, her gaze turned down. "When will you be back?"
"I know you will miss me," he teased.
"I'll be too busy with Dare and the other men to even notice your absence."
"You must really hate this Dare guy." Azu laughed. He was trying really hard to forget but it seemed Ijeoma liked pushing his buttons.
"What do you mean?"
"Yeah, I think you do because why do you want to ruin his business. His name keeps coming up and it's getting hard not to do something about it."
"Whatever it is you're thinking, don't do it! What is even your problem?" She turned away from him and began walking to her door.
"Do you want to come with me? We'll be back by Sunday," he called out. She stopped and turned, folding her arms underneath her chest.
"It's only Monday. That's almost a week and I have things to do here."
"Think about it as a mini vacation. Trust me you'll love it. Besides who doesn't like drama? I'm looking forward to seeing how Ada's family will react." He made his way to her, half expecting that she'd walk away. She stayed put, a few inches separating their bodies.
"I have some meetings tomorrow."
"You can't reschedule?"
"I haven't known you that long to be changing my entire life just to fit yours."
If only she knew how he'd turned his life inside out because of her. He'd never been a hands on boss, but recently, it was like he was jobless. He'd forced himself to stay away these past two weeks and focus on work and that had been tedious. His body kept screaming to go to her. It was why he was in Lagos, under the pretext of picking up stuff. He had just wanted to see her before embarking on his next journey. Ada, Chike, Kachi and Aria were already in Awka. He should be there too, but here he was because of a siren that had ensnared him.
"I'd make it worth your while I promise. Any meeting you can't reschedule, just pass it on to me. I'll make sure it's sorted." He wrapped his arms around her waist and began kissing her neck. He was not above seducing her into coming with him.
"Let me go pack some things," she moaned, pressing into him. Azu smiled against her skin before letting her go. She sashayed into the house, her hips swaying seductively. Just before she shut the door, she shot him a look. He laughed, walking back to the car.
