"YOU SERIOUSLY WON'T COME TONIGHT?" hope paced around vivienne's bedroom.
she had been pestering vivienne for the past thirty minutes to go to a party tonight, well apparently it wasn't just a party, it was the biggest one of summer. hope just kept repeating that it was 'madeline colemans' and it was to start the senior year but vivienne didn't understand what was so special, she didn't even recognise the name.
"it's gonna be one of the biggest parties though," hope groaned as she planted herself on the window seat, "are you not coming because of matt?"
vivienne laughed, "no! i barely even knew him."
unfortunately, she had been lying. that night, she couldn't deny that his rejection had hurt her. it was a new experience for her, and she hadn't expected the lingering impact it would have on her the next morning.
since then, she had refrained from attending any parties out of fear of running into him and reliving the embarrassment. also, she realized she no longer desired to continue her two-year-long pattern of going out and getting heavily intoxicated every weekend. this shift in perspective was especially made after her brother caught her in that vulnerable state, making her very aware of the risks involved in going out again.
