43. Welcome to the land of yeehaw.

As soon as lita stepped off the jet she was immediately hit with an overwhelming heating causing her to regret wearing Max's hoodie on the plane

The sun shone brightly bringing a welcoming warm atmosphere to Texas as the Dutchman trailed slightly behind her with the suitcases

It was good to be back in Texas.

The city has always been litas favourite of the two USA races off the year, the atmosphere of all the cowboy hats, Danny bringing a horse to the paddock one year and of course the after party's at different rodeo bars all made her giddy

This was gonna be a good weekend...right?

It only took around an hour to get to the hotel room and as much as the redbull drivers would of loved to just lay down and sleep after a 15 hour (or as the Dutchman put it "test out the sturdiness of the bed") they needed to head down to the circuit already.

As usual it was bustling once the drivers had stepped foot onto the path in the paddock, it was unique sight filled with people here and there dressed up as cowboys which caused lita to pout like a child of not getting the chance to also dress up

It would of been a lie if the brunette said she hadn't noticed the different grins and stares that they were both earning, it has been the first time since the two had been in the paddock together since their little moment on the Qatar podium it still made litas stomach flutter with little butterflies as she though back to the moment.

As they entered the garage, lita with reluctance pulled her hand from the Dutchman's cause him to look down at her quickly

"I'm just going to go see Horner" she looked up at him as he rolled his eyes

"I thought you were gonna watch my practise lap sweetheart?" He crossed his arms over his chest which made lita give her own eye roll back childish motherfuc-

"I'll be back, it's not like it's gonna take all day in horners office" looking down at her with narrowed eyes, lita smiled up at the Dutchman sheepishly causing him to grumble

"Your better come back, I need my good luck charm" leaning down to place a kiss on the top of her crown, max finally walked off to go get ready

Looking over, lita caught the sight of her half brother Aaron grinning at her as he had clearly saw the sight of her and max

God he was gonna take the piss.

Before Aaron could get a word, the brunette flipped him off as she walked away to go see what Christian wanted...

As lita walked into Horners office she was greeted with the sight of him sitting with his eyes closed making her almost want to grab sharpie and draw on his face

As the door clicked shut however he peeked a lazy eye open and sat up properly

"Well good afternoon Lolita" he shifted in his seat "how are you enjoying Texas so far?"

"I've only been here for over an hour but it's been good" the brunette hummed lazily as she took a seat infront of his desk

A small pause fell between them.

"You wanted to see me?" Lita raised an eyebrow, its not like she had all day and she wanted to atleast get out onto the track to do some form of practise before qualifying

"Ah yes I did" Christian nodded as he picked up a pen and began clicking it

"As you obviously know, there has been a lot of media on what happened back in Qatar which is expected" lita almost squirmed under his assessing eyes

"Well social media will eat up anything that can make a good story" lita clicked her tongue

"True" Christian nodded "of course we are welcoming this attention, it's all been good for the team and of course any attention is good"

"Yeah I'm sure your pleased with it" lita mumbled under her breath

"I don't want to keep you in here to long so I'll get to the pointed" this slowly made litas heart spike with anxiety

"I have had a meeting with the board over the situation of you and max clearly having a thing or whatever you want to call it" Horner spoke dismissively

"It is obviously unusual to have two teammates date but seeing all this attention, of all the journalists busting at the chance to interview you two they are willing to let it slide" now this caused litas eyebrows to knit together

"So your saying it's fine for me and max to date?" Lita slowly raised an eyebrow "you haven't called me in here to rant about how it's a bad idea and that we need to break up immediately and then make a threat?"

now this all caused Christian to burst out into a chuckle causing lita to grow slightly annoyed can you blame a girl for overthinking when the only text she gets from her boss is 'we need to talk?"

"I can assure you Lolita that is not the reason I called you into my office" he shook his head amused

"However the board wants you and max to begin to do more media planned stuff..." he trailed off

"Media planned stuff?" Lita raised an eyebrow slowly of course there was a catch

"Well they want Tori to set up dates for you two, have you both out at different public events where the press will see and be able to give the team spotlight"

Was. He. Fucking. serious?

"So you went to turn this into a pr relationship?" Lita scoffed as she clenched her jaw slightly, it was clear her patience was thinning

"Well essentially yes" Christian nodded

"What, You wanted credit for it all next? You want to tell the press your a paddock matchmaker" lita narrowed her eyes

"Dont be dramatic Lolita, I think it's a fair price to pay instead of one of yous losing a seat" now this made litas fists clench

"Just take it into consideration Lolita, im sure you'll see it will benefit all of us" as he turned away all the French girl wanted to do was greet his face with her fist but she reframed

As she got up and let the office door close behind her, she was suprised her face was roaring red with anger

God this was all bullshit.

Au note// hello lovely people, feels like a reward to have two race weekends in a row but honestly can say I'm eating up last weekends race with how close lando got to another win again. I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter xx
