Fluff, domestic husbands au

Jeongin woke up to his alarm ringing loudly, the sharp sound pulling him from the comfort of sleep. He groaned softly, reaching out to switch it off before rolling over to face the still-dark room.

Beside him, Hyunjin was sound asleep, his arm draped possessively around Jeongin’s waist, his face buried in the crook of Jeongin’s neck.

Jeongin smiled faintly, his heart swelling at the sight. Hyunjin’s expression was soft and peaceful, a stark contrast to the exhaustion Jeongin had seen on his face last night. Hyunjin had worked late into the night, and Jeongin didn’t have the heart to wake him up—not when he looked so serene.

With careful movements, Jeongin slipped out of bed, gently lifting Hyunjin's arm and tucking the blanket around him before padding softly to the bathroom. He freshened up quickly, the cool water on his face chasing away the remnants of sleep.

Quietly, Jeongin made his way downstairs to the kitchen. Determined to make his husband’s morning special, he began preparing their lunch.

The rhythmic sound of chopping and the warm aroma of kimchi filled the air as Jeongin worked, humming softly to himself.

As he stirred the pot, he heard the soft patter of footsteps approaching. Jeongin’s lips curved into a knowing smile, his chest warming at the familiar sound.

Hyunjin’s arms snaked around Jeongin’s waist from behind, pulling him close. His head rested heavily on Jeongin’s shoulder, and Jeongin could feel the warmth of his breath against his neck.

“Morning, love,” Hyunjin murmured, his voice husky and low from sleep.

Jeongin leaned into the embrace, one hand instinctively reaching up to stroke Hyunjin’s silky hair. “Morning, Hyune,” he replied softly, his voice carrying the warmth he felt in his heart.

Hyunjin didn’t move, instead tightening his hold on Jeongin as if afraid to let him go. Jeongin chuckled quietly, his smile growing. Despite the playful protests he could’ve made, he continued plating their food, though it was a little tricky with Hyunjin clinging to him like a koala.

“Would you like to shower first?” Jeongin asked gently, glancing over his shoulder.

Hyunjin shook his head, the motion causing his soft hair to tickle Jeongin’s skin. “I want to eat with you first,” he said, his voice filled with warmth and no hesitation.

Jeongin turned the stove off, setting the plates on the counter just as Hyunjin lifted his head. Hyunjin’s eyes were still heavy with sleep, but they sparkled as he looked at Jeongin.

“Morning kiss, Hwang Jeongin?” he asked, his lips already forming a slight pout.

Jeongin couldn’t help but giggle at the sight. The way Hyunjin looked at him—so open, so full of love—never failed to make Jeongin’s heart flutter. He turned around to face his husband, cupping Hyunjin’s face gently in his hands.

Their eyes met for a moment, the quiet intimacy of the moment wrapping around them like a blanket. Then, Jeongin leaned in, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to Hyunjin’s lips.

Hyunjin smiled against the kiss, his arms tightening around Jeongin’s waist. No matter how many times they kissed, it never felt routine—it was always magical, warm, and filled with the same heart-racing spark as the first time.

When they finally pulled away, Hyunjin rested his forehead against Jeongin’s, his grin wide and boyish. “Best part of waking up,” he whispered, earning another giggle from Jeongin.

Jeongin’s cheeks flushed, but he smiled back, his heart full. “Come on, let’s eat before the food gets cold.”

With one last squeeze, Hyunjin let him go, but not without stealing another quick peck on Jeongin’s cheek, leaving Jeongin’s heart racing all over again.

-----

Jeongin sat on the couch, Kkami nestled comfortably in his lap as he read, the quiet atmosphere of their home wrapping around him like a warm hug.

The soft patting of Kkami’s fur as he stroked the dog’s back was rhythmic and soothing. It was these moments of peace, tucked away from the world, that Jeongin cherished the most.

Reading had always been his escape, his way to quiet the noise in his head. No matter how demanding the world was, a good book had a way of grounding him, calming the chaos.

But if he were to be honest with himself, it wasn’t just the books that soothed him—it was also the warm, gentle presence of Hyunjin. His husband’s comforting presence was the best remedy for any stressful day, more than any book or distraction could ever be.

Jeongin’s peaceful bubble was gently disrupted when he realized the time. Hyunjin was already ready to go to work.

"Bye, baby," Hyunjin said, his voice warm with affection. He leaned over, brushing a gentle kiss against Jeongin’s cheek.

"I'll be home a little later than usual, so eat first, yeah? Don’t sleep too late waiting for me, okay? And if you feel lonely, you can call Felix or Jisung to come over. Or you could take Kkami for a walk, get some fresh air..."

Jeongin’s smile grew at Hyunjin’s rambling. He loved how his husband cared so much, always thinking of ways to make sure Jeongin stayed happy even while he was away. But before Hyunjin could continue, Jeongin leaned up, placing a soft kiss on his lips to silence him.

When they broke apart, Jeongin’s thumb gently caressed Hyunjin’s cheek, his voice low and loving. "Alright, alright, just go to work already. You wouldn’t want to be late, hm?"

Hyunjin chuckled, clearly amused, and gave Jeongin a tender kiss on his forehead. "I’ll be back soon, love. Don’t miss me too much," he teased, ruffling Jeongin’s hair before heading out.

Jeongin lingered at the door, a soft smile playing on his lips. As he closed the door behind Hyunjin, a sense of contentment filled him.

He couldn’t quite explain how he had gotten so lucky to have someone like Hyunjin in his life, but he didn’t want to think about it too much. All that mattered was that he was grateful.

Returning to the couch, Jeongin settled down with his book again, Kkami curled up peacefully beside him. The house was quiet, the kind of quiet Jeongin had always longed for.

'Today is going to be a peaceful day,' Jeongin thought, a content sigh escaping him.

And just like that, it was. A peaceful day. Just like any other.
