"Jinnie! Let's try that one!" Jeongin exclaimed, pointing enthusiastically at the towering ferris wheel. His bright eyes sparkled with excitement, one hand tightly holding Hyunjin’s while the other clutched a fluffy swirl of blue and pink cotton candy.
Hyunjin chuckled softly at the sight of his husband's childlike joy. "Baby, slow down, or you're going to trip," he said, his tone dripping with affection.
Jeongin glanced back at him, grinning sheepishly. "Sorry," he mumbled, slowing his steps. Then, with a playful smile, he started swinging their joined hands back and forth. "Come on, Hyunjinnie, it's our anniversary! We need to ride everything!"
Hyunjin shook his head with a fond smile. "Anything you want, love," he said gently.
The carnival buzzed around them with laughter, music, and flashing lights. This was exactly what Jeongin had asked for—colorful chaos and happy memories for their second wedding anniversary. And Hyunjin? He couldn’t care less where they were, as long as Jeongin was smiling like this.
“Do you want to ride the ferris wheel first, or finish your cotton candy?” Hyunjin asked, glancing at the sugary treat in Jeongin’s hand.
Jeongin took another big bite before answering, his words slightly muffled. “Mmm, cotton candy first! Then the ferris wheel! And after that—oh! Can we do the spinning teacups?” He looked up at Hyunjin, his excitement practically contagious.
Hyunjin laughed softly, brushing a strand of Jeongin’s hair out of his face. “Of course, baby. We’ll do everything you want.”
Jeongin beamed, tugging at Hyunjin’s hand. “Let’s sit down while I finish this,” he suggested. “I don’t want to accidentally crash into someone.”
“Good idea,” Hyunjin agreed. He let Jeongin lead the way, the younger weaving expertly through the crowd before plopping down onto an empty bench.
Jeongin swung his legs slightly as he focused on eating, completely unaware of the way Hyunjin’s gaze lingered on him.
“You’re staring,” Jeongin mumbled through a mouthful of cotton candy, his cheeks puffed out like a hamster’s.
“Am I?” Hyunjin teased, leaning closer. “Can you blame me? You’re adorable.”
“Hyunjinnie, stop!” Jeongin whined, his ears turning pink as he hid his face behind the cotton candy. “You’re so cheesy.”
Hyunjin laughed, reaching out to gently pull Jeongin’s hands down. “I’m just telling the truth,” he murmured, his voice softer now. His eyes flickered to the shiny silver ring on Jeongin’s finger. “You’re my forever, Innie. Did you know that?”
Jeongin looked up at him, his dimpled smile breaking through as he whispered, “You’re my forever too.”
Hyunjin’s heart swelled. He reached out, gently brushing a bit of sugar from the corner of Jeongin’s lips. “Ready for the ferris wheel, love?”
Jeongin nodded, hopping off the bench and grabbing Hyunjin’s hand again. “Let’s go!”
And as they walked toward the ferris wheel, Hyunjin couldn’t help but think that nothing—no ride, no adventure—could ever top the joy of being with Jeongin.
Hyunjin couldn’t stop staring at Jeongin, his gaze soft and filled with adoration. Anyone passing by would instantly see how much love he had for his husband, who was now happily nibbling on the cotton candy.
