A little bit of angst, panic attack, fluff
College au

Jeongin was confused.

Right now, he was in his room, on his bed, thinking of these past few weeks.

His bestfriend had been avoiding him for the past few weeks and Jeongin was worried. Hyunjin never acted like this, except for the time Hyunjin avoided him a few years ago because Hyunjin realized that he was into boys, and Hyunjin was afraid that Jeongin would find him disgusting or even worse, stop being friends with him.

But of course Jeongin still accepted him just the way he is because straight or not, Hyunjin was still Hyunjin, and Jeongin really cares about Hyunjin.

But this time was different, Hyunjin was really avoiding Jeongin, he won't even look at Jeongin. Jeongin felt somewhat hurt because who wouldn't? Imagine your bestfriend, who has been friends with you since practically forever, started avoiding and ignoring you.

'Maybe I'm not good enough for him? He has been hanging with the artsy kids lately... Or maybe I don't dance as well as him. Is it because of my voice? Is he fed up with me and my childish antics?'.

Jeongin started overthinking, negative thoughts. Slowly, his tears start falling, one drop after another, just like his negative thoughts.

After a few seconds, things escalated really quickly, with Jeongin's sniffles becoming into sobs. He felt his chest tightening, breathing became hard and painful.

Through all that, Jeongin decided to dial a number, a number which he remembered by heart. He had to hear his voice, the voice that always calmed him down, the voice that caused all this.

The beeping of the phone was heard until...

"Hello?"

After hearing that, Jeongin's sobs became louder, worrying the latter on the other side of the phone.

"Jeongin? Are you crying? Where are you right now? I'm gonna come and pick you up, yeah?"

"H-h-hyune... Please come t-to my dorm."

"I'm coming, sweets. Stay on the line, yeah? Hyung is coming for you, so don't worry."

Jeongin's heart ached at the worry laced in Hyunjin's voice. 'If you really are worried about me, why did you ignore me?' Jeongin thought as he lay helpless on his bed, his breathing still unstable from all the crying.

After a few minutes, Hyunjin arrived to Jeongin's dorm, entering the pin code that seemed to be muscle memory. Hyunjin barged through the door, closing it, and rushing towards the crying Jeongin, his arms stretched open for Hyunjin.

Hyunjin then hugged Jeongin, not too tight because he knew the boy was experiencing a panic attack right now, and he didn't want to make breathing harder than it already is. Jeongin was still crying uncontrollably, so Hyunjin decided to pull him on his lap, stroking the boy's hair while whispering sweet nothings to Jeongin's ear.

Eventually, Jeongin calmed down, sniffling. Hyunjin slowly pulled away (even though Hyunjin was comfortable) and looked at Jeongin.

Jeongin's eyes had puffed up a bit due to crying too hard and his nose was red, but to Hyunjin, Jeongin looked ethereal. The soft glow of the moon made Jeongin look god-like, his soft hazel eyes looking innocently at Hyunjin's, making Hyunjin fight the urge to kiss him right then and there.

It doesn't take a genius to see that Hyunjin likes the fox-like boy. It was so obvious even his friends could see it , but the younger was just so damn oblivious, dismissing all of Hyunjin's actions as 'bestfriend action'.
