Chapter 19: Unfortunately

Today was a very important day for the seniors in the Uconn women's basketball team, it was senior night. Of course Paige, Aubrey, Aaliyah, and Nika (the seniors) were super excited but also really sad. Paige and Aubrey had not told anyone about their decision to remain at Uconn for another year, not their teammates, not their girlfriends. So Rory had assumed Paige would be going into the draft this year, since she had been left in the dark. Rory would be happy either way, of course it would hurt not to have her girlfriend around as often and to have to do long distance but as long as that was what Paige wanted she would be happy for her. Besides that it would also be Aurora's first time meeting Paige's family, which she was very nervous about. But as senior night got closer and Paige assured A that her family would love her the anxiety decreased. Paige was at Aurora's apartment waiting to pick her up, admiring her girlfriend while she got ready. Aurora was sitting at her desk doing her makeup in a pretty long sleeve short black straight neckline dress paired with a long leather coat and patterned stockings paired with a black purse, gold accessories, and black heeled boots. They were about to go to the game, senior night, and then dinner with Paige's family and to say Rory was nervous was an understatement. But as they got in the car, P grabbed her hand and reassured her everything would be okay.

"Sunshine, there is no need to be nervous. Drew already loves you and my parents will love you as well" Paige assured

"I know baby but what if I do something wrong" Rory expressed her worries

"Even if you did, they'd love you the same. Don't overthink it, we're here"

So they walked into Gampel where they would have their game. Rory sat on the bench next to Hailie, since she was still the PT assistant. Soon the game was over, with a win the seniors would now get appreciated and get to give their speeches. Rory would be losing at least one person this year since Nika was also a senior and had already announced she would be leaving. So it started with Geno and the coaching staff handing the players their boards with a jersey and congratulating them and taking pictures with their family. Soon it was time for Paige's speech, Rory had already started crying from Nika's speech (thank God for waterproof mascara), and Rory had to prepare herself for anything that would come out of her girlfriend's mouth. She started by appreciating her time there and thanking everyone who supported her.

"I know everybody wants me to address the elephant in the room, uhm." She continued.

"Unfortunately, this will not be my last senior night here at Uconn" everyone in the croud screamed and Rory cried again, out of happiness that she would get more time with her girlfriend.

Paige immediately turned to look at her girlfriend who was crying in the stands. When Rory saw Paige looking she smiled and blew her a kiss. Soon the ceremony was over and Paige and Aurora could finally hug. Later they got into the car and drove to dinner. So they walked out of the car, hand in hand, and went into the small Italian restaurant where Paige's family sat. They walked over to the table and greeted each other. What Rory did not expect was to get a hug from Paige's mom, Amy, and dad, Bob.

"Hello honey, it is so nice to finally meet you. I've heard so much about you." Said Amy

"Hi Mrs. Fuller, it's lovely to meet you as well"

"Call me Amy"

"Oh, okay"

"Hi sweety, I'm Bob. It is nice to meet the girl my daughter fell in love with" Bob said with Drew standing besides him

"Hi Bob, hi Drew"

"Hi Rory" said Drew

The dinner went by quickly as they got caught up in conversation. Soon the parents and their partners as well as kids went back to their respective hotels and Rory and Paige went to Aurora's apartment.
