Everyone was now gathered in the Great Hall for their special welcome dinner. It was decided that the Durmstrung boys would sit with the Slytherins while the Beauxbaton girls were with Ravenclaw. Lilith had recognised a few of the boys as from Death Eater families that she had seen at family events.
She stands as she sees Igor approach the table, "Lilith, my dear. Wonderful to see you again. I take it that Hogwarts has been good to you?".
Lilith nods, "That she has. The leadership on the other hand...". She glares at the headmaster, "...not so much".
He laughs, "I see not much has changed then. Your father raised you well".
Igor walks off towards the Professor's table, taking a seat next to Severus. Lilith resumes her seat in between Draco and Pansy as the Durmstrung boys look slightly confused at the interaction.
Viktor decides to break the silence, "You seem to be quite friendly with our Headmaster there, Snape".
She hums, "Igor has been a friend of my father's and my family for quite some time now". She smirks, "So I would treat me well if you don't want me to change your whole curriculum".
He snickers, "You really think you have that kind of power?".
Draco turns to him, "You have no idea the kind of power she holds, Krum".
The Slytherins at the table give each other knowing looks while the Durmstrung boys look almost scared. Lilith looked up to see Ron and Harry whispering to each other while occasionally glancing at Viktor.
Dumbledore makes his way to the stand from his seat, "I would like to say a few words before we bring in the casket".
Neville rubs his temples, "Casket. Did he just say casket?".
Blaise chuckles, "Hey, at least we don't have to plan his funeral for him".
The Headmaster continues, "Eternal glory. This is what awaits the student who wins the Triwizard Tournament. But to do so, that student must survive three tasks. Three very dangerous tasks". He walks around to the front of the stand, "You see, the Triwizard Tournament has an unfortunate history of killing off its participants".
Lilith noticed that some of her baby snakes were squirming in their seats, clearly very uncomfortable learning this new information.
She grabs the hand of the First Year next to her, "It'll be alright, little one".
Dumbledore sighs, "For this reason, the Ministry has seen fit to impose a new rule. To explain, we have the Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation, Mr Bartemius Crouch-".
The rear door flies open and a man sporting a long black travelling cloak and clutching a staff walks in. Lilith glares at the man, knowing exactly who he was and what he had done to her uncle. Behind him, walks out another man with grizzled grey hair and a scarred face.
Daphne leans forward, "Is that Alastor Moody? The Auror?".
One of the younger ones asked, "Auror?".
Pansy nods, "Dark wizard catcher. Half of the cells in Azkaban are filled thanks to him. Supposed to be mad as a hatter these days though. Sees Deatheaters in his dustbins".
But Lilith had a different feeling about the man. She couldn't put her finger on it, there was something...familiar...about him. Her eyes were drawn to a flask that Moody started drinking.
She thinks to herself, "Interesting".
